Russian Federal Security Service exercises take place on top of Mount Elbrus Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) helicopter Mi-8 has landed group of the spetsnaz members, led by the FSB Director, Army General Nikolai Patrushev, on top of the Mount Elbrus in European Russia (18,510 feet), Russian TV channel Vesti reports.


During special exercises in December-January, the spetsnaz and aircraft of the FSB have fulfilled interoperability operations in mountain conditions. "Operation was carried out secretly in the conditions most approached to fighting. Actions of pilots of aircraft of the FSB and servicemen of the spetsnaz unit during the exercises have shown their high professional training and skill to operate in complex high-mountainous conditions", the TV channel cites an unnamed source. The operation has been carried out on January 6, however information about it appeared only yesterday.
