5 days ago the expedition of “7 Summits Club” under the leadership of Sergey Kofanov (“Seven Summits Club guide, twice Everest Summiter) arrived in Nabire (Papua New Guinew, Indonesia).

They are planning to climb one of the most difficult to reach summits – Carstenzs Pyramid (4884) by a new route from the South – from Sinya.

According to the information they have, it might be possible to fly in to Sinya and then reach the slopes of Carstensz Pyramid from the South. Then start climbing the Rocky part of the summit from the south thus avoiding some difficult sections of the classic route from the North.
