Alexander Abramov from camp 2 (3800m) from the slopes of Mount Vinson (Antarctica).

December, 27, we were going to leave at 10 o`clock in the morning. We even have left, but have quickly understood, that weather is too bad, the wind, conditions were not favorable. We have decided then, that we shall postpone a start for a pair of hours, till 12. And we have gone to bed. At 12 a.m. still it would no desire to go. We have postponed our start on 2 p.m.. And the situation has turned out not bad: we ate, had a rest, had well a sleep. When I have looked at the watch and has seen, that pressure raises. Weather was improved.
We have left at 5 p.m. - so late nobody left. In general, the calculation was that from 6 o`clock till 12 p.m., it is practically warmest time of day. And calculation was justified. When we have gone upward, weather began to be improved gradually. Everything was as good as with the first group.

And when we have reached the top of Vinson, it was absolutely still, no wind at all. At thó excellent weather we have spent for an ascent (up - down) 9 hours. Now we are sitting in tents. I want to devote the ascent to Russian climbers, to our veterans. They have made a lot of climbs but have no chance for Vinson, due of incredible price. And thus, they can not finish the project of " 7 Summits ». By the way, Artur Karapetian has made today his sixth summit from the seven. Only Everest remains …..
