We live very well. There is a separate club tent in our Russian camp of the 7 Summits Club. We, all members and guides, sleep by one person in a tent. We have great food. Free, unlimited Wi-fi, shower and charging ... with electricity.

And what’s very important: we all have large double tents. Like on Everest. And in each tent there are gas heaters.

Also, for every dinner we give out one bottle of Argentinean red wine for 4 people. Therefore, after dinner, we sit in the warmth. We play guitar and cards.

We pulled upstairs into the upper camps of Nido De Condores and Cholera, large dining tents. 10 sleeping tents, 40 sleeping bags, 40 rugs, food and gas. We have 5 guides for the first group of 11 members: three Russians and two Nepalese Sherpas.

We are waiting for the second group on December 28, with which four guides will also work.

Yes, upon arrival in Mendoza we will settle our members at the five-star Diplomatic Hotel.

Hi 7 Summits! Connected Antarctica, Vinson Massif. The team is now located in Low Camp, 2800. We are the only team here because for some reason the rest decided to leave tomorrow. We were happy when we left the clouds and saw the sun. We will spend here a couple more nights. Today we plan to go to fixed ropes, gain 300 meters in total.

Rest is planned for tomorrow. Well, as all the other American teams come, it will be even more fun. So far, we are alone in the camp and no one else! Enjoying Antarctica!

Greetings to all of you from the White Continent!

Hi, 7 Summits! This is Artyom Rostovtsev. Yesterday we miraculously flew out of Punto Arenas. Nobody believed, but unexpectedly, they gave the green light to take off. And immediately to Union Gletcher. We arrived there after midnight. It was possible to sleep, and in the morning to eat calmly. And then miraculously move to Vinson's base camp. Also, the weather was not favorable, but suddenly a weather window appeared and we were thrown to the Vinson's base camp. We are here now. Today, we calmly sorted out our things, prepared for tomorrow. We hope to go to the Low Camp. Although there are  some unfavorable news. The guys who have been working as rangers here for many years say that they saw avalanches for the first time at the slope from Low Camp to High Camp. But our plan is to move there and see with our own eyes what is there and how it is. Not looking at the rest of the teams.

Wish us good luck!

Hello everyone from Antarctica!

Hi, 7 Summits! This is the Far South in touch. Antarctica is not allowing yet ...

We are waiting for the weather for a flight to Antarctica. In order not to rust at all, we walked a little through the Patagonian forests. Its brightened up the wait, but, unfortunately, not for long. The weather makes it difficult to fly, maybe then by the sea? We walked around the surroundings, along the shore of the Strait of Magellan, suddenly what was suitable, they did not find, but we were impressed by what we saw…

Starting December 26, in Antarctica, a Belgian mountaineer Sofie Lenaerts will work with our group as a trainee guide. This is her personal chance to become the first woman in her country to complete the Seven Summits program.

Together with his regular life partner Stef Maginelle, Lenaerts leads the 8000 Unlimited project. Climbing both in the Alps and the eight-thousanders. Last summer, a large group of Belgian climbers of the 8000 Unlimited project climbed Lenin Peak.

In addition to mountaineering, Sofie made many other fascinating trips: she rode South America on a motorcycle from edge to edge, made a bike ride in Asia - 2700 kilometers, flew from Mont Blanc on a paraglider ...

The 7 Summits Club congratulates all mountain lovers!

The mountains have made our lives richer, we are responsible for what mountains will be for future generations.

‘Mountains matter for Youth’ - The motto of International Mountain Day in 2019.

International Mountain Day 2019

‘Mountains matter for Youth’ is the theme of this year’s International Mountain Day, which is celebrated on 11 December.

Young people are active agents of change and the future leaders of tomorrow. They are custodians of mountains and of their natural resources, which are being threatened by climate change.

The 2019 International Mountain Day’s theme is a great opportunity for young generations to take the lead and request that mountains and mountain peoples become central in the national and international development agendas, receive more attention, investments and tailored research.

The day will also be an occasion to educate children about the role that mountains play in supporting billions up and downstream – by providing freshwater, clean energy, food and recreation.

International Mountain Day is a chance to highlight that for rural youth, living in the mountains can be hard. Many young people leave in search of a better life and employment. Migration from mountains leads to abandoned agriculture, land degradation and a loss of cultural values and ancient traditions.  Education and training, market access, diverse employment opportunities and good public services can ensure a brighter future for young people in the mountains.

In the coming months, a communication tool box for International Mountain Day will be made available on the IMD website in six languages.

While ‘Mountains matter for Youth’ is the suggested theme for 2019, countries, communities and organizations are welcome to celebrate International Mountain Day through themes of their choosing. What can you do?

What can you do?

  • Raise awareness of mountains on 11 December by organizing youth forums, hands-on activities, presentations, student debates, photo and art competitions, hikes and events targeted to specific age groups.
  • Write to us about the International Mountain Day event you are planning at info-IMD @fao.org so we can publish it on the International Mountain Day website.
  • Join the conversation on social media using the #MountainsMatter hashtag. Share your stories about the reality of living in the mountains as a young person, or post a photo of your favourite mountain moment and share it with us and your friends.
  • Access our tool kit to help share your story.

For Aconcagua we have a long season ahead. The “Russian Camp” of the 7 Summits Club will host six groups, and all of them are large. And there is still the opportunity to join! Urgently call! The first group begins its trek to the highest peak of South America on December 18. But before this there is still a lot of preparatory work, which is better done under the command of the most experienced expedition organizer Alexander Abramov. In addition, this year, our friends from Nepal, Sherpas, will work in the “Russian Camp” as high-altitude porters. This is a new word in the service of climbers on Aconcagua. It should work out fine! Today  Vladimir Kotlyar and Alexander Dorozhukov flew to Argentina with Alex Abramov, and soon Andrei Berezin will join them. Great company!

Yesterday, December 7, there was the Annual Gala evening of the Russian Mountaineering Federation (FAR), dedicated to summing up the results of 2019. The main event, as usual, is considered the presentation of the prize for the best climbing achievement “Golden Ice Ax of Russia”. However, this time the evening began with a speech by our Nepalese guest Nirmal Purja (Nims).

The hero of the Himalayan year, who climbed all 14 eight-thousanders of the world in an incredibly short period of 6 months and 6 days, made a brief presentation to an impressive audience. It must be said that this year the evening of the federation  gathered a record number of spectators. And they listened with great attention and frank delight to Nims.

Then there was the traditional procedure for awarding by Honorary Badges "Climber of Everest", climbers who first  time climbed the highest peak in the world this year. It was preceded by Maxim Shakirov with his presentation. In the past year, he carried out his own amazing project and climbed Mount Everest with video equipment for shooting 360. However, the project is not finished, we will wait for an internet site where you can admire all this.

And then Alexander Abramov and our Everest team were called onto the stage. See how it was:

After that, it was possible to move on to the main part of the evening - honoring the best climbers and the best climbing achievements of the year. But this is a different story.

Our story continued at the restaurant table…
