<![CDATA[ Summit! The 7 Summits Club team successfully summited Carstensz Pyramid, the highest peak on the Australian continent ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_19312/ The 7 Summits Club super guide Artem Rostovtsev reports from Papua:

Greetings, Seven Summits, from the expedition team on New Guinea! This morning at 6:30 AM, we stood at the summit of Carstensz Pyramid. Slowly, without fuss, without stretching, we reached the summit quite quickly. The descent back was slow, as the good weather kept us from descending. Now, in the pouring rain, we're running between tents through streams and swamps. We're really hoping for a helicopter ride down tomorrow morning.

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club team flew from Timika to Carstensz Base Camp and practiced on the first pitches of the route ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_19306/ The 7 Summits Club guide Artem Rostovtsev reports from Papua:

Hello, Seven Summits! This is the Carstensz Pyramid expedition. We all arrived safely in Timika (the closest civilization to the mountain). Our flight down the mountain was slightly delayed, just a day. We decided not to spoil you with any news and photos. So, the first decent news is from base camp, where we arrived this morning. We immediately headed out to the rock wall to refresh and strengthen our skills. We were doing so well that we were already considering a summit attempt today. But current mountain regulations prevent this. We finished the acclimatization and educational walk, had a snack, and had our health checked. We're waiting for rain so we can retreat to our tents for a nap, with a break for dinner. We plan to set out for the summit early in the morning.

Carstensz Pyramid News. The climbing season is coming to an end here, there will soon be much more rain, which means there will be nothing to do on the mountain. And our second and last expedition to the Carstensz Pyramid this season has successfully ended. Finally, the whole team was able to gather in Timika, after the mountain climbs. Part of the group stayed at the base camp waiting for the helicopter to fly down. Today the weather was good and everyone went down. We put the final point of the program at a gala dinner, the participants will take their well-deserved medals and certificates for the ascent home. We fly away tomorrow morning. Greetings to everyone from Papua!

<![CDATA[ The second group of the 7 Summits Club to the Carstensz Pyramid has started the program, part of the group is already in the base camp ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18340/ The guide of the 7 Summits Club Artem Rostovtsev reports from Papua, Irian Jaya province of Indonesia:

Hello, 7 Summits Club! This is the island of New Guinea. We have started our second expedition to the Carstensz Pyramid mountain, we have returned after a 5-year break. Nothing has changed on the mountains, the weather is mostly rainy.

Yesterday the whole group arrived in Timika. We got ready, weighed ourselves so that the helicopter pilots would not worry about our carrying capacity. At the gala dinner, we invited the local commander-in-chief to take a photo with us. He was also solemnly greeted in the morning at the airport, then it was impossible to approach him. But at the hotel he was happy to approach us.

The morning helicopter flights to the mountain, unfortunately, were interrupted due to bad weather. More precisely, the typical here humid-cloudy-rainy weather. Only part of the team reached the base camp. And held the first training sessions. I hope to reunite tomorrow morning.

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group was airlifted to Carstensz Base Camp and is preparing to storm the summit ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18320/ March 4. Hello everyone from Papua! Today, our team of 8 people went to the airport in the morning in the hope of flying to Carstensz Base Camp. We weighed ourselves and the loads in advance - it turned out to be just under 800 kg. A helicopter was sent from Nabira especially for us, which takes 800 kg. But when we had already started loading, the pilot said that he was ready to take only 700 kg. We had to draw lots to decide who to leave. And throw out some of the load. In the end, I was left. With the hope of flying out tomorrow too.

In 25 minutes, our entire group (7 people) under the leadership of Artem Rostovtsev successfully landed in the area of the Base Camp (4200 m), where our camp had already been set up in advance with large sleeping tents and a special recently brought cabin from Red Fox (Team Fox). After resting, the members went on an acclimatization rotation. They trained to work on ropes. An assault on the summit is scheduled for tomorrow morning. We are keeping our fingers crossed for our first group on Carstensz!

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group members arrived in Papua, in the city of Timika, and hope to fly to the Carstensz Pyramid base camp soon ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18318/ March 3-4. Hello everyone from Papua! It is a province in Indonesia on the island of New Guinea.

On March 3, all the participants of the expedition to Carstensz arrived! Artem and I met them at the airport. They were put up in a hotel, their gear was checked, and they were allowed to sleep a little after a long two-day flight. We weighed ourselves and our gear. In the evening, we arranged a short excursion with a visit to souvenir shops and beautiful places. We had a festive dinner at our favorite restaurant Rimba Papua, surrounded by greenery and fountains.

We met several groups, including those who returned from Carstensz. And some have been waiting for the flight down the mountain for two weeks already. The information about our flight has changed several times. However, as of this morning (March 4), there is a chance to fly as planned. In 2-3 hours it will be clear.

Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Super guides Lyudmila Korobeshko and Artem Rostovtsev from Papua.

March 2. Hello everyone from Papua! This is a province of Indonesia on the island of New Guinea. From two guides of the upcoming expedition of the 7 Summits Club to the Carstensz Pyramid. Having flown out on the last day of winter, we arrived on the second largest island in the world (New Guinea) only on March 2.

It is green, hot and humid here. Several groups have gathered in the city of Timika, waiting to be dropped off by helicopter at Carstensz Base Camp, right at an altitude of 4,200 meters. We met groups of Adventure Consultants (New Zealand), Mountain Trip (Alaska), a group from the Czech Republic... Everyone wants to climb the mountain. Of course - the mountain has been closed for climbing for almost 6 years! Unfortunately, the news from the mountain is sad - just yesterday a group of Indonesians got caught in bad weather, two died, three were rescued and lowered to the camp from the ridge with hypothermia.

Tomorrow our group arrives. We meet them and work according to plan. We will try to fly under the mountain.

Guides of the 7 Summits Club expedition to Carstensz Artem Rostovtsev and Lyudmila Korobeshko.

<![CDATA[ Thank you all! On the party of the meeting of friends of the 7 Summits Club was successful, we were glad to see you all ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_14330/ Yesterday, a big meeting of friends of the 7 Summits Club took place in the lecture hall of the Sports Marathon Travelers Club. The program included the presentation of Alexander Abramov's book "The Height-Altitude Gene" and the first ever presentation of orders “Seven Summits”. The hall was crowded, and everyone showed great interest in what was happening "on stage". The procedure for awarding orders has turned into a solemn presentation of outstanding personalities, such are the heroes, the climbers of all "Seven Summits".

The Order of the Seven Summits is an honorary award to climbers who have climbed the highest peaks of all seven continents of our planet. In total, there are almost half a thousand people who have completed it. There are already about fifty of them in the list of Russians. The first number in it is the famous Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov, who completed the program back in 1997.

 The presentation of the badge of honor, which is called the order, is a long-standing idea of the president of the 7 Summits Club company, Alexander Abramov, who, by the way, has already completed the program three times. Finally, the idea that the climbers of the "SevenSummits" are worthy of a separate award has been brought to life. And the heroes who have passed through all continents, climbed to their highest peaks, received a beautiful order! The 7 Summits Club plans to make the solemn procedure of awarding the Seven Summits Orders traditional. After all, the award can only be received in person, not everyone could be in Moscow that evening. Well, we are waiting for new heroes, the mountains are calling and waiting for us!

<![CDATA[ The report of Vladimir Kotlyar about climbing the Carstensz Pyramid, with photos of Irina Zisman ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_8874/

Vladimir Kotlyar, a guide of the 7 Summits Club talks about the recent visit to the island of Papua.

Team of the 7 Summits Club, consisting of Irina Zisman, Michael Kornev, Gregory Sadetsky and Vladimir Kotlyar visited several places in Western part of the island of Papua New Guinea from 1 to 11 March and climbed the most mysterious and difficult of the 7 summits - the great Pyramid of Carstensz.

On a sunny day, back in 1623, Dutch researcher Jan Carstensz saw a glacier on the banks of hot New Guinea from afar. Returning to Europe, he announced his discovery, for which he was ridiculed.

Almost 400 years have passed since then, and now any traveler can personally verify that Jan Carstensz was not at all an inventor and the glacier in the tropics was not a figment of his imagination or hallucination caused by excessive consumption of rum.

The glacier really exists and is situated near the highest mountain of Australia and Oceania, named in honor of its pioneer Pyramid Carstensz. The second name of this mountain - Jaya, which translated from Indonesian means Victory.

The world has become more accessible, now to get to the other end of geography is not necessarily to go sailing on a sailing boat for months and years. You can get on a plane, sit in a chair, and you're in a different country, a different culture, a different world. And although "McDonald's" and "Starbucks" climbed almost everywhere, the world is still beautiful and diverse.

A couple of flights and we get from -15 to + 35°, from snow - covered and cold Moscow - in green and stuffy Jayapura, from native Russia in far New Guinea.

In some places of this island are some persons eat people, somewhere in the depths of the jungle tribes still living as primitive people. And somewhere instead of guys with bows and spears, you can meet guys with machine guns who are fighting for independence from Indonesia.

But we don't need the jungle, we need the mountains, our goal is Jaya, our goal is Victory.

Some days we have been acclimatizing, visiting a tribe of Papuans, walking to the lake at 3200, where for more productive acclimatization, having a swim. On the fifth day not to meet guerrillas, we fly by helicopter to base camp on 4200. After lunch I spend training with the team on the ropes.

In the morning of the 6th day we put on harnesses, hang carabiners and other climbing rattles and begin to climb up. The rock wall is full of flow streams, and sometimes become to the river. The mountain does not get bored, only tired of jumaring - and you're walking on steel cables over the abyss, breathed and op, you need to jump somewhere. In short, climb the Carstensz is a fun, albeit wet))). The breaks in the clouds sometimes, the views are spectacular.

Five and a half hours of work on wet ropes and rocks and we stand on top. For me, this is the sixth summit of the project "7 summits". The descent reminded me more of a canyoning than mountaineering. In the camp we were waited by hot tea and the watermelon beautifully cut out in the form of a flower. We wondered in honor of what we get watermelon flower, in honor of the ascent or in honor of March 8th. Agreed that the watermelon is dedicated for the only girl in our team - Irina. Together we go on not the first climb, but first time on March 8)).

That's how climbers celebrate international women's day!

P. S. the Glacier we saw and witnessed the opening of Jan Carstensz))))).

Do travel, love life and appreciate the beauty of this world! V. Kotlyar.

Irina Zisman after the return sent us pictures in high resolution, we have done a separate gallery. See here ( 47 photos)

The journey continues: after meeting with the local folklore group of Vladimir Kotlyar climbed for acclimatization on the stunning mountain lake Sentani...

Video and photo ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_8831/ Vladimir Kotlyar, a guide of the 7 Summits Club: adventures of Russians in Papua begin!!!! We got to Jayapura after long and painful seats in planes and airports. The Papua met by the heat and the greenery. Such a contrast after the Russian frosty winter….

This time we have made a special program – it starts immediately in the Papuans-cannibals, so that participants better acclimatize and get used to the world of Papuans.

Passed this stage, they will be admitted to the subsequent ascent to the highest point of Australia and Oceania - Pyramid Carstensz.

Members of the expedition:

Irina Zisman (great Amazon, recently returned from South America and Antarctica with Vinson and Aconcagua in his belt);

Irina - beauty Ambassador at the Seven Summits

George Sadetsky (who has already climbed Everest and Vinson);

Mikhail Kornev (just few days as ascended of Orizaba with Sergei Larin).

<![CDATA[ A new film about climbing Pyramid Ñarstensz ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_8615/

We arrived in Papua for climbing the mount of Pyramid Carstensz, hiking through the jungle.... But because of a rebellion of the Papuans (extortion on the road.... in the truest sense of the word)) we returned to Timika. The helicopter took us to the base camp and WITHOUT acclimatization for 4:10 went up/came down from the mountain! A couple of free days, we used to visit Wamena to naked tribes.

<![CDATA[ The continuing adventures in Papua. Many beautiful and funny PHOTOS! ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_8391/

Lyudmila Korobeshko and Alex Abramov from Papua.

You already know that our entire group at full strength climbed to the top of Carstensz. But the adventure is not over.

Taking off from Carstensz, the group split up. The male part went to the meeting with the scary Komodo dragons. And the female part under the leadership of President Alex flew into the heart of the island to look at the scary on the outside but good inside of the Papuans.

Now we compete who have cooler adventures.

We (women's team) have participated in hostilities, witnessed the brutal murder of a pig (which women of the Dani tribe carefully nurtured breast), ate meat from the pit and went through a huge cave with bats before the start of the underground river. A group of men, meanwhile, backs of dragons and bathed in ice sources.

The total score is 1:1

Message from Alexander Abramov:

Hello! This is Abramov Alexander, Irian Jaya, Papua, Pyramid Carstensz. Today our team made the ascent on the Pyramid of Carstensz. All seven people. Including among us:

- the first Belarusian to reach the Pyramid Carstensz – Vadim Frolov;

- the first Deputy of the State Duma Oleg Savchenko;

- the first Ukrainian woman who is going to finish the "seven summits" - Tatiana Jalovchak;

- the first inhabitant of Kovrov – Alexey Balakin;

- first Ukrainian climber who climbed all "seven summits" without Carstensz, who is now also finished with the Pyramid Carstensz, but already being a citizen of Russia - Igor Pokhvalin;

- well, actually, Abramov Alexander, for the fifth time;

- Lyudmila Korobeshko, for the third time ...

In General, each of us was first in something. ... everything is fine. Of course, with the weather we were lucky. The weather is fair, we flew by helicopter. Until we saw no guerrillas, which are said to be located across two valleys from us.

I mean, we're all fine. The first part went down after 12 hours on climb, the second -after 13. On the top we went up seven and a half hours.

That is, everything was fine, "mountain of the mists" at the end on the descent fresh us with some rain.

Well, OK, now we sit waiting for our departure home.

We want to go to .... in Wamena. And spend an unforgettable party in Bali.

Here we have a cool program. We are all very pleased, we have a gorgeous camp. Tents are not wet at all. This is unique to this country, because here constantly pour rains. Well, bye!

And then we met our group-1, which yesterday returned to Bali from Carstensz, under the leadership of Artem Rostovtsev. We are resting and remembering what happened. Group members were not allowed to hike through the jungle, as the military said that in the jungle is unsafe. And so they flew in a helicopter. And rightly so. As somebody said, in the area of Carstensz yesterday there were shot a car with police from machine guns. Tonight we will fly to Timika. In the lair of the Papuans

Alex Abramov insisted that we have brought an oak table and chairs. "There's got to be at the highest level!"

In the evening we visited the migration service. I was photographed on a red background and I have a subscription that I'm on the good will go to the lair of the Papuans. And I agree not to come closer than 5 km to secret American mine and not to ask for help in any case.

I go to bed, tomorrow at 4.45 departure to the airport. I and a cook will fly 2 days earlier, we will make a camp.

According to the forecast we knew that today is the last day of good weather ... and we decided to climb to the top immediately ...

Not to stand in the night, not get wet in the rain. The result: at 2:20 we reached the summit and descended. And now we celebrate our success. Everyone is feeling great. The Chinese delegation, which is here, came... congratulated us ....

There was no helicopter today, but tomorrow we hope to fly in Timika. Bye! Artem Rostovtsev

Artem Rostovtsev, a guide of the 7 Summits Club:

Rainy greetings from Papua! We are again in Timika. In short, we flew to Sugapa, and then are unable to overcome obstacles in the form of representatives of the tribe of Moni on the way to the jungle. Some time groups of tourists weren't there, and, perhaps, some time, still will not. We spent the night in a police station and in the morning were evacuated at the first opportunity. We'll go the other routes planned tomorrow to fly to the base camp under a Pyramid Carstenz by helicopter.

Negotiations, massive entry of Papuans in the police station, talks, again talks...

We bought another waterproof layer. Now in this matter we are quite.

Tomorrow finally we leave this bastion of civilization and go to the Papuan jungle. In the morning we depart for the array, which dominated by Pyramid Carstensz, and will slowly stomping around 5-6 days and we'll be under the mountain.

<![CDATA[ Maksut Zhumayev: Expedition of the 7 Summits Club to the Ñarstensz Pyramid (4884 m). PHOTOS (Cool!) ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_7463/ SUMMIT!

March 17, the night before the ascent I could not sleep. At first it was chill, after midnight the moon came out, illuminating everything around as in a daytime, in the morning it began to rain. But we decide to go on the route.

March 18, 2017 at 4:30 it was a light breakfast and at 5:30 we leave for an assault. We walked calmly. During the day the weather changed rapidly, then the sun, then fog, then rain, then snow. By noon the whole team had successfully climbed to the top of the Carstensz Pyramid (4884 m)!

First thing I called home, to my loved ones! I told my dear wife Olga that we had climbed and started the descent. Thanks to IEC Telecom Kazakhstan, satellite communications connect our family regardless of distances;)

On the descent, we were in a thunderstorm and wet snow. We descended into the inner corners, along which streams flowed. Through wet, we went down to the base camp.

Everything is fine ;)

But we hoped that by the time of our flight it will stop. However, this did not happen. Waited in stand-by mode until 13.00. Then we relaxed. <![CDATA[ Lyudmila Korobeshko: a dramatic day over the jungle of the country of the Papuans ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_7450/ This morning at 6:00 the main team came to Timika. We quickly overloaded everything into a helicopter. There was a lot of cargo, so the helicopter must became as easy as possible. When they took off the back door, I felt somehow uncomfortable. When we loaded into the salon, in the center of it we saw a big hole - also the consequences of relief. For 15 minutes, the pilots warmed up the screws. Finally, we took off. After 20 minutes, not far from the landing site, we got into a very dense fog. The altimeter showed 3800. I realized that there were a number of mounts about 5000. It became completely creepy. We sharply gained altitude to 5000. Then the sharp icing of the salon began. We were forced to return. The next attempt is scheduled for tomorrow.

<![CDATA[ The most interesting expedition of the year, to Ñarstensz, begins today. Follow the news from New Guinea ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_7447/

Lyudmila Korobeshko, expedition guide and company director of the 7 Summits Club: Today, Monday, March 13, the expedition of the 7 Summits Club to Pyramid Carstensz begins. This is the most mysterious and hard-to-reach mountain from the 7 Summits project.

This morning the main part of the team and most of the expeditionary cargo depart from Geneva. In the plane there will also be a legend of world basejumping and baseclimbing Valery Rozov.

I personally already have halfway to the goal of our trip - the island of Papua New Guinea - specifically, I am in Hong Kong.

And one more participant of our expedition and a part-time star of world mountaineering, a man who made no oxygen climb on all 14 eight-thousanders - Maksut Zhumayev - is already waiting for us on that island, in the town of Timika, where he arrived this morning.

The next day we all should meet in Timika and go straight to the foot of the Pyramid of Carstensz. We'll see how it goes. Follow our news!
