The 7 Summits Club group successfully ascended Mount Cotopaxi ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_19425/ Greetings from sunny Ecuador! Today was a challenging, but enjoyable, day of climbing. Our team, though not full, stood at the summit of Cotopaxi Volcano. We were lucky with the weather; it was clear and sunny all day. However, a few days earlier, there had been a fresh snowfall. This required some work. Everyone in the group is satisfied and happy, not only with the climb but with the overall experience of traveling in Ecuador. Your guides, Alexander Dorojukov and Viktor Volodin.

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group's acclimatization climb on the slopes of Cotopaxi was interrupted by bad weather ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_19420/ Hola from Ecuador, from the slopes of Cotopaxi Volcano (5,897 m)! Cotopaxi is one of the most beautiful active volcanoes, ranked among the top 10 most popular mountains in the world for guided climbing. Just a year and a half ago, it erupted and was closed to climbers. Now, the 7 Summits Club group is there, and it is the main destination of the expedition.

Today, our group had a day of altitude acclimatization on the Cotopaxi Glacier. We reached the mountain slopes and ascended to approximately 5,000 meters. The weather was unfavorable—wind, sleet, and the possibility of a thunderstorm—so we decided to descend earlier than expected.

A little later, the weather improved, and even the summit was open, but here, things can change every 15 minutes. Generally, the weather in Ecuador is very changeable and diverse, just like the rest of the country! It's never boring!

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group in Ecuador visited Lake Quilotoa and had a wonderful day ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_19415/ Greetings from Ecuador! Yesterday we checked into a luxurious hotel at the foot of the Cotopaxi volcano. We woke up this morning to a beautiful view. We went to Lake Quilotoa, located in the crater. The views there are simply magical. Some people even went for a swim in the lake. For lunch, we stopped at a very beautiful restaurant with all sorts of old gadgets. Overall, it was a great day!

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group in Ecuador completed an acclimatization climb to Guagua Pichincha near Quito ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_19413/ Greetings from Ecuador! Our cheerful team had a great day today. We checked out of the hotel, visited a few local attractions, including a supermarket and restaurant. The restaurant had a beautiful view and was near the Virgin Mary monument. Today we went on an acclimatization climb to Guagua Pichincha volcano (4,784 m). We drove up to the trailhead in jeeps and walked and walked. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the crater due to the fog. But the views were still stunning. After descending, we finally saw our destination – Cotopaxi volcano.

<![CDATA[ The new 7 Summits Club group arrived in Ecuador and, of course, visited the equator ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_19408/ Greetings from Quito! Our group arrived in Ecuador yesterday evening, and we're really looking forward to visiting Cotopaxi Volcano. Today, we began our gradual acclimatization, took the cable car to 4,100 meters, walked around, and enjoyed the views of the city nestled between the mountains.

Afterward, we traditionally visited the "Place of the Equator." Everyone was thrilled to watch the water swirl in different directions as it drains, on opposite sides of the equator. Today, we'll have a welcome dinner, and we'll discuss plans for tomorrow and beyond.

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group held training sessions on the snowy slopes of the Cotopaxi volcano in Ecuador ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18374/ Hello everyone from Ecuador! Today we reached the Cotopaxi National Park and climbed the slopes of the Cotopaxi volcano to hold ice training and check our equipment before the climb. The weather continues to test us. There was rain, snow, and wind. But at the same time there was sun and beautiful views.

We climbed to the refuge, where we will spend the night before the climb. Then from there we climbed even higher - to the snow and there we practiced the skills of using mountaineering equipment.

And today on the way to the refuge we saw many huge condors that were soaring very close to us. And an Andean wolf that came to the refuge. But the wolf turned out to be very timid and immediately ran away.

For the night we went down to a comfortable hotel, but tomorrow we will return to the refuge again to go on the climb at night.

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group visited Lake Quilotoa in the crater of a volcano and is preparing to go out onto the snows of Ecuador ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18373/ Greetings from Ecuador! Today we went for a walk to a very beautiful ancient lake in the crater of the Quilotoa volcano. We split into two groups: the "hurryers" walked around the lake along the edge of the crater, and the "contemplators" went down to the water. Everyone had a good walk, according to their wishes. We bought some souvenirs once again and finally adjusted all the equipment.

Tomorrow we are going to look at the snow on the slopes of Cotopaxi. We will conduct snow lessons and walk in crampons.

<![CDATA[ The summit! The 7 Summits Club group climbed the summit of Guagua Pichincha in Ecuador ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18372/ Hello everyone from Ecuador! Today our mountain adventures finally began. Moving slowly and enjoying the fog, we climbed our first volcano, Guagua Pichincha 4784m. The relatively short trek to the top was spiced up with rock climbing elements. And the snow on the top and the peals of thunder also added to our pleasure. But the main thing is that we acclimatized well and were not very tired. We spend tonight in an old hacienda from the seventeenth century closer to our goal - the Cotopaxi volcano. Tomorrow is a quieter day, we will go for a walk to the lake in the Quilotoa crater.

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group has finished the geographical part of the adventure in Ecuador and is heading to the mountains ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18370/ Olga Rumyantseva, the 7 Summits Club guide, sends from Ecuador:
Hello to everyone from Ecuador, where our group continued its exciting acclimatization today! Early in the morning we went into the jungle to look for birds. We didn't find many birds, but a lot of different hummingbirds flew to the site of our hotel. They flew around us and buzzed with their wings. Then we went to the butterflies.

An amazing place where thousands of different butterflies fly, but the most beautiful are the big blue ones. You can also feed the butterflies there and see how they hatch from their cocoons.

And finally, the final event of the day is a visit to the equator line in Quito. We visited the Museum of the Middle of the World, where we learned a lot of interesting things about Ecuador and the equator.

This is such a wonderful acclimatization. But tomorrow we will finally go to the mountains.

<![CDATA[ In Ecuador, the 7 Summits Club group acclimatizes in the jungle and under the rain ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18366/ Olga Rumyantseva, the 7 Summits Club guide, sends from Ecuador:

Greetings to everyone from Ecuador, from the group that has not yet found a name for itself! Today, all the participants finally got together and early in the morning we went to get to know Ecuador, acclimatizing at the same time.

We climbed to the observation deck of the Pululau crater and, having looked at it from above, went down to the crater where people live. Previously, they were engaged in breeding cattle, but now they mainly receive tourists, organizing small hotels and offering various types of activities.

Having risen from the crater, we continued on our way to the area of the "cloud" forest of Mindo. And although the forest promised to be cloudy, and not rainy, on the way, when we went to see the waterfall, we got caught in a downpour. But we saw a very beautiful waterfall and walked through the jungle, which everyone also really liked.

And finally, we arrived in Mindo, where we visited a chocolate factory. We watched the entire process of making chocolate, and then tasted it. This is how we acclimatized.

<![CDATA[ The adventure program of the new 7 Summits Club group begins in Ecuador ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18364/ Olga Rumyantseva, the super guide of the 7 Summits Club, reports from Ecuador:
Hello to everyone from Ecuador! The big adventures of one small and still nameless group begin here. Today, the group members flew to the capital of Ecuador, Quito, and despite the long flight, immediately went for a walk around the city center.

That is, first they walked around the city center, and then went up to the observation deck, where the statue of the Virgin Mary is located. We looked at Quito from above, at the statue towering over the city from close by, and even looked inside the statue.

At the same time, we combined the walk with acclimatization. After all, Quito is located at an altitude of 2800 meters, and in order to climb to the observation deck, we had to gain another 200 meters in altitude.
Tomorrow, when all the participants of our adventures gather in Quito, we will begin an exciting journey and acquaintance with the country.

<![CDATA[ Summit! The 7 Summits Club tour participants Olga and Alexander climbed Cotopaxi volcano ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18267/ Hooray! There is a summit! On February 9, Olga and Alexander stood on the summit of Cotopaxi volcano (5897 m) - the most beautiful volcano in the world, included in the TOP-10 most popular ascents with guides. The active Cotopaxi volcano was reopened for ascents after another eruption about six months ago. After the eruption, the terrain changed significantly, became more technical, requiring more effort and special training.

The couple did it! And now they are waiting for a well-deserved rest at the thermal springs surrounded by blooming mountains.

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group arrived in Ecuador to get to know the country and climb the Cotopaxi volcano ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18252/ Hello to everyone from Ecuador, the country of volcanoes and flowers, from Olga and Alexander! The couple flew to Quito and began their acquaintance with this colorful country, located in the mountains in the equatorial region somewhere on the South American continent.

Yesterday, there was a deeper penetration into the history and culture of the colonial center of the capital and, of course, it was not without closing several gestalts: standing on the equator line simultaneously in different hemispheres and trying a local delicacy - kuya (guinea pig, in our language).

<![CDATA[ Chimborazo met the climbers with an insurmountable wall of wind. Rustam Makharramov is already planning a new visit to Ecuador ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_17829/ Ecuador. The final news from Rustam Makharramov. Greetings from Ecuador! Many are eagerly awaiting the final. We tell you!

Cotopaxi (the second peak of Ecuador and one of the most popular volcanoes in the world for guided climbing) turned out to be a difficult and interesting volcano with a relief that changed after the eruption - open cracks and rocky areas, requiring technical training and experienced guides.

The ascent to the summit was successful, but it required incredible efforts and a long, exhausting return to civilization. Thoughts arose about the advisability of continuing the program.

But, after two days of rest, recovery and further acclimatization in the atmospheric lodge Marco Cruz at 4000 m, everything fell into place and at the appointed time the team reached the base camp of Chimborazo at an altitude of 5300 m. The move and night at 5300 was easy, the body was already ready for all further tests.

But, on the night of the assault, a storm wind arose (up to 100 km / h) and our group turned after 200 m of ascent. An attempt to climb was made, but the mountain did not let us this time!

But everyone is healthy and happy and are already making plans for next year, how to make another attempt to climb Chimborazo 6310 m. This highest peak of Ecuador and the most distant point from the center of the Earth has a harsh character. It is necessary to select an acclimatization program so as not to repeat the ascent of any of the previously descended volcanoes over two years! This is not an easy task!

And a very interesting plan has already been outlined, where volcanoes not only of Ecuador will be involved! A super-non-standard mega-trip is planned, which apparently no one has done before! So - To be continued!

Cotopaxi is the second peak of Ecuador, one of the most popular and beautiful volcanoes in the world and already the fifth peak of Rustam in Ecuador this time.

Also, this is the first representative of the 7 Summits Club, who climbed the summit of Cotopaxi with the changed relief after its last eruption.

It was not easy and not without adventures. But now two of the three highest peaks of Ecuador are already in Rustam's piggy bank.

Chimborazo is still waiting!

<![CDATA[ Summit! The group of the 7 Summits Club made an ascent on the Cotopaxi volcano ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_13594/ The group's guide Lyudmila Korobeshko: Hello everyone from Ecuador! From the group "Toropygas and Tortugas". This morning we were standing at the top of Cotopaxi - the highest active volcano in the world!

Even yesterday we could hardly believe it - when we drove up to the national park of Ñotopaxi, a heavy downpour began and, accordingly, snowfall at the top. The bad weather continued until almost midnight. And in the previous days there were heavy snowfalls.

But our group was lucky - after midnight the snow stopped (all because in Quito we were given change with a few pieces of paper for $ 2). And by dawn, even the clouds parted and the stars appeared. There was still some avalanche danger after the snowfall, but our valiant Ecuadorian guides led us through safe paths. So at 7.30 we were standing at the top, tired but happy.

Now we have arrived in the town of Baňos - the gateway to the jungle. We listen to the murmur of waterfalls and relax in the spa. We are thinking what to do next…

Today there was a day of the assault for Boris Manevich and guide Franklin. The weather decided to surprise and show how it can be different in Ecuador. This time there was a lot of snow, wind and snow rain - a fairly common natural phenomenon in Ecuador. Not the most optimal conditions for climbing! Under these conditions, the climbers reached the level of 5700 m . Now they are resting already downstairs. Chimborazo is not an easy peak.

This morning our team climbed on the second peak in our Ecuadorian program - Iliniza Norte volcano with a height of 5126m. Yesterday morning we left Quito and arrived at the national park at the foot of the mountain. We started from a height of 3900. After lunch we reached the Nuevos Horizontes refuge at 4700. Here we met two Andean wolves here, had a great dinner with special Ecuadorian dishes and went to bed early. Today we left at 5.30. The route was heavily covered with snow, the rocks were icy, but this did not prevent our team from climbing to the top. We were at the highest point at about 9 am.

Now we have come down and settled in one of the old Ecuadorian haciendas. We will prepare for the next ascent.

After the descent, he had a day of rest and excursions in the Quilotoa crater lake area. Lake Quilotoa is one of the most beautiful places in South America, located in the Ecuadorian Andes. An amazing and original corner created by nature itself. It was formed here as a result of a strong volcanic eruption about 800 years ago. Locals believe that the lake has no bottom, but geologists estimate its depth at 250 meters.

With a sinking heart, we stood on the edge of the huge Pichincha crater, from where a powerful charge of volcanic ash burst out several decades ago, covering the whole of Quito. On the descent from the summit we were caught by a small snowfall, which quickly ended. On the way to Quito, we tried some firewater (aguardiente) and returned to the hotel satisfied and almost not tired.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to Quito and leave for mount of Iliniza. We will have a high-altitude overnight at 4700 and in the morning we will storm Iliniza Norte.

<![CDATA[ The first day of the 7 Summits Club group in Ecuador: wonders of the equator and tastings, excursions to Quito ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_13576/ Lyudmila Korobeshko, director of the 7 Summits Club and guide of the group from Ecuador:

October 16. Hello everyone from the Center of the World!!!

Today our Ecuadorian team with the working name "Mitad del Mundo" visited the Equator Line. On the way, we attacked a fruit stand and arranged a tasting of the most exotic fruits - tasted cherimoya, naranjilla, granadilla, taxo... you won't remember everything.

On the equator line, they admired the scalps of people (the inhabitants of Amazonia loved and knew how to cook them); they learned to determine the time of planting, harvesting and resting by the sundial, put eggs on nails (some even received diplomas of Egg Masters), turned the water in different directions and dropped 1-2 kg of weight each.

Then we returned to the historic center of Quito, where we found an excellent restaurant in the bishop's palace with a stunning view of the central square and delicious Ecuadorian cuisine. Of course, we tasted locre de papas (thick potato soup with avocado and cheese), ceviche, fritado, empanadas.

And finally we walked around the historical center of Quito, looking at the numerous churches. The Church of San Francisco was especially impressed. The walls are made of volcanic stone, the ceilings are made of mosaic without nails or glue, huge organs on the walls, a wonderful courtyard with tall palm trees, orchids and talking parrots. And from the bell tower there is a breathtaking view of the historic center of Quito.

Walked up, in general. Tomorrow we will have the first ascent - Guagua Pichincha (4800). Getting ready.

Today is the second day of acclimatization, climbing the volcano from the Pichincha group. Rucu Pichincha (4698 m) hangs over Quito, it can be called a home volcano. Stunning panoramas of the city open from its slopes. For greater comfort and time saving, you can climb to a height of 4200 m by the Teleferico cable car. The ascent was made in a sporty style. We left the hotel at 9.00 and already had lunch there at 15.00. There's still a free evening left to do something interesting! Tomorrow we say goodbye to Quito and drive towards the main volcanoes.

Boris Manevich travels according to the program of the Gornyashka project of the 7 Summits Club - climbing with local guides.

Yulia had a mountain sickness at night, so we started together with the guide of the 7 Summits Club. The other climbers all went out at exactly midnight, we at 1-40 am. I asked the guide: can we come first to the top? He said it was up to me. We quickly caught up and bypassed several groups and reached the leaders. There, on the move, the guide began a furious discussion with another guide on the topic of avalanches and guide licenses. They were both yelling at each other like hell. I followed the guide. As a result, we took the lead and reached the top first at 6-20 am with dawn! Now we are considering a plan to capture Chimborazo all three of us…

News from Ecuador. On the last night of the Super Cuy team, the group members were awarded for climbing three peaks. The highest of which was Cotopaxi 5900m.

The gala evening was held at the hotel in Papayakta, where we lived for the last days and swam in the hot springs. So we said goodbye to Ecuador.

<![CDATA[ The group of the 7 Summits Club "Super Cuy" turned before reaching the summit of Chimborazo because of avalanche danger ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_12501/ Alexander Abramov, President of the 7 Summits Club from Ecuador:

News of the group "Super Cuy" from Ecuador. At 10 PM, we started climbing Mount Chimborazo from camp 5300. The snow continued to fall. We walked for a long time, trampled the path through the complicated terrain of the volcano, climbed on 6000 m. There, local guides who have been here on the mountain 100-200 times, determined that the slope is avalanche-prone. They said it was suicide to go further. Of course, all members were upset. We went down. And finally we decided to eat the local Guinea pig "Cuy", which gave the name of the group.

Then we settled in another wonderful hacienda.

<![CDATA[ The group of the 7 Summits Club "Super Cuy" started to climb Chimborazo and got into a thunderstorm ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_12496/ Alexander Abramov, President of the 7 Summits Club from Ecuador:

News of the Super Cui Team. We climbed up in a thunderstorm to camp 5350 on the slope of Mount Chimborazo. Here we were waiting for tents in the snow. We were caught in a thunderstorm on the way. Lightning struck the ridge, we threw all our things and lay in the snow for 30 minutes. Then it got better and we continued climbing.

Now we have dinner and at 11 o'clock p.m. we plan to start a climb the highest peak in the World, if you count from the center of the Earth. It's snowing now. The forecast is bad. Wish us luck!

Snow is falling. The mountain is avalanche-prone. Tomorrow we will decide whether to go further, depending on the weather. The team's mood is cheerful. We feel fighting…

News of the Super Cuy team from Ecuador. Today, in difficult conditions, the entire team, 100%,reached the top of Mount Cotopaxi (5856m) - the highest active volcano in the World.

The glacier is partially destroyed, as 4 years ago there was an eruption. Movement on the glacier is very confusing. 100 m from the top, we began to choke on the sharp smell of hydrogen sulfide.

When dawn broke, we saw huge cracks. It is quite possible to get lost in them, especially after a heavy fog has settled. Now the team is resting in the town of Banos. There are gorgeous hot springs here.

<![CDATA[ Summit! The group of the 7 Summits Club "Super Cuy" successfully climbed the summit of Ilinitsa Norte in difficult conditions ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_12486/ Alexander Abramov, President of the 7 Summits Club from Ecuador:

Today our team "Super Cuy" climbed on Iliniza Norte 5200m. The climb was not simple. The rocks were covered with snow. All the team members reached the top and on the descent we were covered by bad weather. Tomorrow we plan to leave for the refuge under Cotopaxi.

We have a unique program. For 12 days we will climb on 4 volcanos. Including the highest active volcano in the World Cotopaxi. And the highest volcano in Ecuador is Chimborazo. It is probably the highest mountain in the World that can be climbed in November.

<![CDATA[ Summit! Elena Ivanova climbed Mount Cotopaxi with a guide of the 7 Summits Club in terrible weather conditions ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_11711/ News from Ecuador from Elena Ivanova:

Today we climbed the volcano of Cotopaxi (5,897 m), which is considered one of the most beautiful in Ecuador. But, it was not up to the beauty! Again we were covered by icy rain. The thought slipped through several times to turn back. But there was enough strength to go to the end, to the top.

Tomorrow begins the ascent on the highest volcano of Ecuador and the most remote object of the earth's surface - Chimborazo (6 310 m). We hope that the weather will be more favorable! It’s good that the plan has a reserve day ...

<![CDATA[ Adventures in Ecuador by Elena Ivanova with a guide of the 7 Summits Club ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_11696/ The adventures in Ecuador of Elena Ivanova or the girl who dreams of Everest (to become the first Israeli citizen on the highest peak of the world) continue. Yesterday, Elena climbed the second planned volcano. This time it was the volcano Corazon (4780 m). Corazon (translated - heart) is located in the western spur of the Andes. From its top, views of other volcanoes open - Cotopaxi, Iliniza, Ruminiau, Pasachoa. The crater of the volcano resembles a heart in shape. The most romantic climb is to take a heart attack! This time the weather was less cloudless, but this did not stop Elena from climbing, accompanied by our guide Edgar Parra.

<![CDATA[ Summit! Our team climbed volcano Iliniza ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_10538/ We climbed the mountain Illiniza Norte, 5126ì, all together, quickly and accurately! Start was early in the morning - about 6.30 am, 3 hours up, sometimes had to climb that for almost all participants it was the first time. Therefore, the ascent was emotional and bright, despite the fogs, and a little rain on the descent. We went straight down to the Parking lot and went to a cool hotel, which resembles both a Museum, a Park and a castle - an ancient and interesting place.

Next in our plans – Chimborazo!

Hello, dears! This morning enjoyed a wonderful view of the Cotopaxi for breakfast. We even watched a fly of a hummingbird, but did not have time to take a picture of it. After breakfast we went to the parking at 4600m on the slope of volcano Cotopaxi, reached the glacier, held ice-snow classes for the guys and reached a height of 5200m. On road down was greeted Andian wolf and again local hares. The nature of Ecuador never ceases to amaze!

<![CDATA[ Almost-summit of Cotopaxi. In Ecuador there are many reasons to return! ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_8609/ Lyudmila Korobeshko, guide and Director of the 7 Summits Club: Hello from Ecuador! Today, the Team of Brave Guinea Pigs to 5 am cheerfully climbed to 5700m on Cotopaxi. And then we ran into avalanche-prone slope, which is already about a week no one passed. Several local guides attempted to do the trail, but soon returned, saying that the state of the slope is extremely dangerous. At any moment an avalanche could be.

In General, to the highest point, we missed 200 m.

So, we will have to come back to Ecuador! And not only on Cotopaxi!

<![CDATA[ Our group met in Quito and began intensively to get acquainted with Ecuador ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_8575/ Lyudmila Korobeshko, a guide of the 7 Summits Club: Today Dec 30th, the rest of our group, 12 people came to Quito. Now we are all together. Even the luggage, no one item got lost. The people came to be surprisingly cheerful. All immediately demanded bread and circuses. So I had to go for a walk on haunts of Vice of Quito in search of adventure. Found something. Tomorrow the fight starts - instead of the New Year table, we storm Rucu Pichincha (4700). Those who can handle it, get tickets for Ecuador Christmas tree.

While driving to the airport to meet the group it opened Cotopaxi in all its glory. A lot of snow.

Wellcome drink for Our big Group
