This year's success rate on the mountain has been very low ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18803/ Greetings from Alaska! Denali climbing season officially wraps up!

The last two independent summiteers of the season Lukas Jasensky and Petr Halasta from Czech Republic stopped by our 7 Summits Club office in Talkeetna. These incredibly strong climbers topped out on Denali via the legendary Cassin Ridge — an impressive feat to close out the season! Huge congratulations on such an amazing achievement!

This year, Denali saw a 35% success rate among all climbers. We at the 7 Summits Club are truly grateful to be part of the amazing Talkeetna community. It’s been a fantastic season working here, meeting mountaineers from all over the world, and celebrating their achievements on North America’s highest peak. Thank you all for visiting us and sharing your journeys!

Until next season — keep reaching for new heights!

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group "Orange Men" made a forced retreat and returned without the summit ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18791/ The leader of the Denali expedition, group guide Lyudmila Korobeshko sends from Alaska:

July 2. Greetings to everyone from Alaska from the "Orange Men" group from the Ranger camp at an altitude of 4300m! That's all. Yesterday we made the final decision - today we are descending. Unfortunately, without the summit. The route above 5200 is very dangerous for avalanches. For about two weeks, no one has climbed to the summit. And there is no chance that the route will improve. According to the forecast, strong winds will arrive by evening. So we will try to descend as soon as possible. We are one of the last ones on the Mountain now. There are only 1-2 groups nearby. They are also planning to descend.

It is very sad to leave without the summit...

Two guys in our team planned to close the "7 Summits" project with this Mountain. The rest had one more mountain to climb besides Denali before the project was completed...

<![CDATA[ The summit of Denali is inaccessible due to avalanche danger. Our teams are returning home ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18784/ President of the 7 Summits Club Alexander Abramov reports from Alaska:

We turned around from the Assault Camp at 17,000 feet. The mountain slopes are very dangerous for avalanches, and not a single group went to storm the summit of Denali. We went down the ridge and then came to the 14,000 camp. Here our second team, the "Orange Men," led by Lyudmila Korobeshko, was waiting for us. We went down and walked all night. We arrived at the Airfield. But because of the clouds, the planes are not flying. We are waiting.

<![CDATA[ The 7 Summits Club group "Orange Men" at the Ranger Camp. The situation is difficult ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_18779/ The leader of the Denali expedition, the guide Lyudmila Korobeshko sends from Alaska:

June 30. Greetings from Alaska to everyone from the "Orange Men" group! From the Ranger Camp at an altitude of 4300m. We have been here for two days already. We came here the day before yesterday. Yesterday we went to get supplies. Today we are resting and practicing technical skills.

The situation on the Mountain is difficult - no one has climbed to the summit for almost two weeks. After the last snowfall, the slopes above 5300 on the "autobahn" have become very avalanche-prone. Over the past three days, about ten groups have turned around and gone down without the summit. We are still waiting and hoping. But even today our first group turned around on this section. Today Abramov's group will descend to us. We will decide what to do next.

Our team is in Camp 5 at 17,000 feet. We have one day to the summit. But the slope is avalanche-prone. Today, two teams went down, only reaching the base of the slope. They left without the summit. We are still planning to assault the summit of Denali tomorrow. But it is not yet clear how to cross the avalanche-prone slope. We are thinking.

Yes, we are still here. Yesterday it started snowing at lunchtime, by evening it had accumulated about 20 cm. At night the snowfall intensified. We had to leave our tents every two hours and dig ourselves out. The neighboring expedition slept all night, and in the morning their tent poles broke under the weight of the snow. Now it is almost evening. The snowfall does not stop. We dig ourselves out every hour. We are sitting in camp, waiting for the weather to improve.

In 2019 he also became the first person to run the 135 Mile Denali Highway with running partner Bill McCue.

In 1997 Sean climbed Mt. Denali with started point at 282 feet below sea level at Death Valley.

He bicycled more than 3,600 miles, hiked through forests and crossed the chilly water of mountain streams. He survived tricky encounters with wildlife and negotiated treacherous mountain glaciers.

His expedition started March 21. He reached the mountaintop on June 21.

It was a true honor to meet such a legendary person in our office!

Thank you, Sean, for being such an inspiration to our generations!

Greetings from Alaska to everyone from the "Orange Men" group! Today we climbed to Camp 3 or Camp Eleven, at an altitude of 3400. We woke up to the sounds of snowfall. They are cheerful and happy. Today, the guys did not go up because of the snowfall. They decided to rest. They helped us a lot with setting up camp in difficult winter conditions.

Tomorrow, the first group will go up to the Rangers Camp. And we have a descent for supplies and a day of rest at Eleven Camp.

June 22. Alaska Group #2 is in touch. We are still spending the night at Camp 1 at 2500m. Yesterday we went out to make a drop-off. But we had to turn around, because it suddenly turned out that one of the participants urgently needed to return home for personal reasons. But you can't walk alone or even in pairs on the Kahiltna glacier (according to the rules of the local rangers), so we all turned around - we are the team! We returned to the camp and tried to have as much fun as possible. At night, Sergey went down with another team, and we reached the drop-off point early this morning. And we made it to 3000. We were a bit battered by the wind and cold, but now we are already in the camp. Let's sunbathe and relax.

One road, and six million acres to roam. At 20,310 ft, Denali is North America’s tallest — and still growing! Only 30% of visitors ever see the summit. Moose, grizzlies, wolves, and eagles rule the land.

No fences. No signal. Just nature. Midnight sun in summer, auroras in winter. This is Denali — raw, free, and unforgettable.

6/8- Sad news from Denali.

Denali took its first victim this season. Alex Chiu from Brooklyn, New York died after he fell 3,000 feet from Alaska’s Mount McKinley on June 2. Alex Chiu with 2 other partners were ascending Mount McKiney’s West Buttress climbing route on to the Peters Glacier on June 2, which is roughly 12,000 feet above sea level. Chiu was not wearing a rope during the adventure when he fell, and National Park Service officials said the two other mountaineers witnessed Chiu fall and they lowered themselves over the edge of the mountain as far as they could but couldn’t see or hear Chiu fall. The body was recovered on June 4 by helicopter.

<![CDATA[ Thank you all! On the party of the meeting of friends of the 7 Summits Club was successful, we were glad to see you all ]]> http://7summitsclub.com/news/all/item_14330/ Yesterday, a big meeting of friends of the 7 Summits Club took place in the lecture hall of the Sports Marathon Travelers Club. The program included the presentation of Alexander Abramov's book "The Height-Altitude Gene" and the first ever presentation of orders “Seven Summits”. The hall was crowded, and everyone showed great interest in what was happening "on stage". The procedure for awarding orders has turned into a solemn presentation of outstanding personalities, such are the heroes, the climbers of all "Seven Summits".

The Order of the Seven Summits is an honorary award to climbers who have climbed the highest peaks of all seven continents of our planet. In total, there are almost half a thousand people who have completed it. There are already about fifty of them in the list of Russians. The first number in it is the famous Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov, who completed the program back in 1997.

The presentation of the badge of honor, which is called the order, is a long-standing idea of the president of the 7 Summits Club company, Alexander Abramov, who, by the way, has already completed the program three times. Finally, the idea that the climbers of the "SevenSummits" are worthy of a separate award has been brought to life. And the heroes who have passed through all continents, climbed to their highest peaks, received a beautiful order! The 7 Summits Club plans to make the solemn procedure of awarding the Seven Summits Orders traditional. After all, the award can only be received in person, not everyone could be in Moscow that evening. Well, we are waiting for new heroes, the mountains are calling and waiting for us!
