Greetings from the "Malbecs" group on the slopes of Aconcagua! Today, after an acclimatization night at 5,500 meters, we descended to Plaza de Mulas Base Camp (4,300 meters). We need to recuperate before the final climb. We were lucky to descend in time, as the weather suddenly deteriorated after lunch, with snow sleet falling from the sky. This is a sure sign of a thunderstorm. Thunder and lightning were quick to arrive, and for 5-6 hours we watched the storm in the mountains. Tomorrow is a well-deserved rest day. We walked to the old hotel, even got a chance to go inside, and saw the 7 Summits Club flag, apparently left by some of our first climbers on Aconcagua. It was a true touch of history. We also visited the highest art gallery in the world, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, and admired the works of artist Miguel. Everything was going well, but vigilant Argentine rescuers turned us back, citing poor weather conditions. The weather was rapidly deteriorating. Today we descended to our base camp. There was a lot of snow, which is unusual for this time of year. The mountain has been closed for two days. We're all a little sad, but new routes and the thrill of meeting the mountains and our friends await us.

In five and a half hours, we reached camp, where tents were already pitched and boiling water was ready, carefully prepared by Valery Myasoedov.
