Hola! The first group of the 7 Summits Club this season has safely reached Argentina and has taken the name "Los Hombres" (Men). The participants gathered in hot Mendoza, where our path to the summit of Aconcagua begins. We quickly resolved all organizational issues, including obtaining permits. Hello from Mendoza! Preparations for the start of the season are almost complete, food has been purchased and packed, tents and public equipment have been checked, gas, oxygen - everything is waiting to be sent to the Base Camp. There are some paperwork formalities left, which we plan to complete tomorrow. Also tomorrow we will meet the first participant of the first group, who arrives a day earlier, and then we will definitely be able to say: "The season has started!" Hello from sunny Mendoza! The advance guard of guides is already here and is starting to prepare for the long season on Aconcagua. Mendoza greeted us, as always, warmly. We passed passport control in 5 minutes, and customs did not even ask what we had in our huge bags. Argentina has changed a lot over the past year, the economy is stabilizing, all the locals note this, but, as a result of the reforms, prices have increased significantly. The official and street exchange rates of the dollar to the peso are almost the same, and the advantage that all foreigners had has disappeared. We have to get used to it...

First of all, we visited the office of our partners, discussed the innovations of this season, met new employees, looked around the warehouse with rental equipment and even tried on some things. By the way, our partners Aconcagua Vision are renting an office in the Diplomatic Hotel this year, which is very convenient for our participants and for us, since we rent a house right across the street. Today, we are planning to sort out the deposit and, at the same time, we are processing permits at the Migration Service. There is a lot of work, but we have everything worked out and tested over the years, there will be no problems. The season is long, until the end of February, and those who are still thinking about climbing Aconcagua have time. Sign up for groups, come, and we will organize everything here at the highest level. Guides Andrey Berezin and Valery Myasoedov.

Program and details…

Boris Egorov, the guide of the 7 Summits Club, reports from Argentina:

Greetings from Patagonia! It's sad to report some news, but I have to. Our weather "window" collapsed and only a "window pane" remained. It happened on the eve of the exit, when the last preparations had already been made and we were ready to go to the approach to the mount of Fitzroy. We had to make plans on the go. And instead of Fitzroy, they decided to climb a small one-day wall. Still, here, on the edge of the world, you can't lose even such small opportunities. And we did the right thing! We climbed classic route on Aguja Guillaumet. Kilometers along trails and unpleasant drifts, snow and ice under the mountain and in front of the very top, but then 15 ropes of very pleasant climbing on granite of medium difficulty. We acted safely and fairly quickly. It's nice to be a well-coordinated team and enjoy climbing. Plus one steep wall passed, a little more experience and now, as Alexey said: "Fitzroy is surrounded and he has no chance left." We will try to make the ascent next time.
