Hurrah !!! Our team is at the top of Ojos del Salado! Alex Abramov, Dmitry Ginkulov, Oleg Pimenov, Irena Kharazova ... Three our members for various reasons have not reached the top. But the weather ... the wind blows constantly. We managed to find a window in the weather, we were in doubt a long time, thinking and calculating. We started late enough to avoid night frost. But now we're standing on the top… we are the first team in the last few days, which had climbed it. All other teams turned back because of the strong winds and bitter cold. That all! Our expedition to the Ojos del Salado ends successfully. The 7 Summits Club made another victory. Everybody, bye! Wait for us in Moscow!

Hello! This is Alexander Abramov with a report from the highest camp on the summit of Ojos del Salado. The altitude is about 5800 meters. Now we went up to a height of almost 6000 meters. For acclimatization. Wind has not as strong as yesterday. We plan to start at five o'clock in the morning to three hours later to be caught by the sunrise. We hope that the wind will not be as strong and as cold as in previous days, and we will be able to climb Ojos. All members feel well and fine.

Hi, Seven Summits Club! It is Artem Rostovtsev from a South American program. I

have already reported of the Ecuadorian pro, then we had the Peruvian, which ended early yesterday morning. We managed to see the ancient capital of the Inca city of Cusco, where everyone enjoyed it. And then we went to Machu Picchu that is one of the current "seven wonders of the world."  We were lucky with the weather - it was gorgeous. We finished the Peruvian program, as I said, yesterday morning. We went to Argentina in Mendoza, with the main aim of the expedition - the ascent to Aconcagua. But then it turned out that, due to the closure of the road,  the authorities will not issue permits for Aconcagua next 2-3 days.

 In the end, we decided not to sit those extra days just idly in Mendoza. We opted for another interesting summit, the second highest in South America and in general the highest volcano in the world - Ojos del Salado. So now I am telling from Chile, the city of Copiapo, is in the middle Atacama. And a few hours later, we have already put forward in the Ojos del Salado side. There we hope to meet with the group of Alex Abramov …

Hello! Alexander Abramov, from the expedition to the summit of Ojos del Salado ... Today there was a hard night full of hallucinations ... that we looked at night ... Due to the fact that there is little oxygen in the air, of course, few people slept. All tossed. Acclimatization was in full swing ... This night there was terribly strong and cold wind. British team of three started climbing, but reached only the height of 6000 ....

Alex Abramov: Hello! Our team is now in the camp Tejos, at an altitude of 5800 meters. Here we come to the very strong wind. The actual wind at the top, according to the forecast, more than 100 kilometers per hour. We on the trail, I think it was 50-60 . Also on the way we broke one car and in a strong wind we had to repair it.

All members are in a great mood. Dinner was just super. Lena had prepared extraordinary thing for the altitude of the 5800. It was salmon with puree and sauce with real prawns.

Today we will spend the night here at the shelter. We hope to wake up in a good condition and went down again in the Atacama base camp. All Goodbye!

All turned out as always spontaneously. We just took a bus in Mendoza and went to Copiapo. Just to kill time, since before the plane there was five days. In Copiapo, we hired a pickup and decided to try to go to Ojos. Ojos del Salado - is the highest volcano in South America and the world.

So we got into the car and drove to the Atacama Desert. I do not drive a car, and Xenia has no experience of driving an SUV, but we are not scared. In the evening, courageously overcome all difficulties off-road, we were in the high-altitude camp "Atacama" at an altitude of 5200. It is 5 am when we began to climb to the top. The weather was clear but very windy. In Elbrus in such wind, I would not be led, to be honest. I do not know when exactly – at 2 p.m., perhaps, we were "standing" on the top.

Then there was a rapid descent. After resting for five minutes on foot, Xu sat behind the wheel of our car, and we rushed to the Laguna Verde, warm up in the hot springs. The next day we traveled through the neighborhood, stopping at various places of interest. We visited the lakes, waterfalls, gorges, salt marshes, seeing the wild flamingos. I was struck by the beauty and abundance of colors of the desert. This is my first meeting with this desert, but I hope not the last.

Now we're sitting at the airport waiting for the plane of Oxana. Today she flies home, and I stay in Chile. No exact plan as usual there, just go to the south. What will come of this? Wait and see...

In April 2013 at the 11th Congress of the Ukrainian Geographical Society Igor Pochvalin was elected an Honorary Member. He also became a member of the Presidium of the Crimean branch of the Society. In May, Igor went with the Club 7 summits on Jebel Toubkal, in August, he presented his new book, this time the book of poetry named «Free translation from Farsi». Hello! This is Alex Abramov from the Atacama Desert, Ojos del Salado expedition. Now we have a rest at lake Laguna Verde, where we bathe first in the hot springs, then immediately in cold water of the lake. Around there is an extraordinary beauty. Mountain peaks covered with snow, green lake. In general, all very cool. Yesterday we went to the summit of Mount San Francisco, 6018 meters high. All we reached the top, although it was of course difficult. Now we believe that we are ready for further program. Today we move to the base camp Atacama. Follow our messages. So far!

Jubilee expedition dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the 7 Summits Club President Alex Abramov started yet the end of last year. January, 31th a guide 7 Summits Club Sergei Larin arrived in Chile. He started preparing food and other things needed for the expedition. Alexander Abramov arrived in Chile on January, 2th and also was involved in preparations for the arrival of the main group. Today, the 3rd of January in Chile begin to arrive all other members of the expedition. Who is from where. Who from Moscow, who from Samara, who from Irkutsk, who from Khanty-Mansiysk, who from Antarctica after climbing Vinson. Well, now a few words about the ascent ofOjos del Salado.... It's time ...

No special difficulties, most importantly, as always - be lucky with the weather. Well, no need to rush - 7000 meters yet – a need of acclimatization has not been canceled ...

I had hoped to acclimatize on Orizaba, but between the two mountains I got 14 days. A lot, too many. But I could not resist and tried to start climb on top of Ojos immediately after arrival. I had a luck, but... not right!

We had a picnic with a guide Mario first right into the crater, well then moved to the top, in total spending on the summit more than three hours. Good weather and lack of wind contributed to this. But in the end, the desire to go down to the restaurant and wash out to sea and had overpowered ...

Oh yes, our car was not able to climb up to 5800 meters, so we lugged all by yourself from the 5200 and back. From Copiapo to Copiapo we spent 6 days for the ascent ...

Along the way I lost the camera. Then it was found, but returned me only flash card with photos. Sorry for the camera, which was on Everest, South Pole, and many other points ...

But I'm happy, now I have something to show you ..

The 7 Summits Club Club President Alex Abramov was hardly thinking, how and where he should celebrate his forthcoming 50th anniversary. It was an idea was to go alone from the South Pole to the ocean coast. There were other thoughts. But he accepted a decision, as always, non-trivial: to meet the anniversary at the top of the highest volcano of the World -Ojos del Salado! At an altitude of 6893 meters. The expedition of 7 Summits Club under the leadership of Denis Savelyev was completed in early March, when the participants returned home. It was quite successful, the topOjos del Saladowas reached by 4 climber and one guide.

This season is generally was with very bad weather there, so the victory was not easy. Half of expeditions cancelled climb because of the strong wind ...
