There we held classes on climbing on snow slopes with self-arrest and walking on fixed ropes. The weather is very bleak - a cold May wind, plus snow sometimes broke. Greetings from the Elbrus region! Today we started our acclimatization on the slopes of Mount Cheget. There is still a smell of spring, a cool wind, snow is still lying, streams run in places, it rains afternoon every day. But, in general, everything is fine.

News of the Elbrus region. UralSib Group has climbed on the top of Europe. May is capricious in the Caucasus mountains. Therefore, we were not very lucky with the weather, sometimes the visibility was only three meters. Plus, cloud cover, wind, frost accompanied our ascent.  But we were lucky with will, perseverance and strength. Bottom line: at 8:30 a.m. we were already at the top.

News of the Elbrus region. The UralSib group went to the Pastukhov Rocks as part of acclimatization. The weather, while we were walking along the ridges, was beautiful. There was no wind, only a slight frost. On Friday we are going to storm  the summit.

Hello everyone! The group "It's snow time" of the 7 Summits Club made an attempt to climb Elbrus! It was, of course, not torture, but in conditions of zero visibility, close to it. Blitz is always like roulette, and if you add bad weather, the chance is doubly reduced!

But we honestly trod and struggled with the snowfall. Having reached the saddle and weighed all the pros and cons, we decided to repeat what we started at a more favorable time.

News of the Elbrus region! Today, the Shuttles group, in difficult weather conditions, climbed  the Western peak of Elbrus. News of the Elbrus region.  The weather did not spoil us much during acclimatization, and on the planned day of the ascent it deteriorated altogether. Therefore, we decided to go down to the hotel for one day. Before that, however, we worked hard, clearing the doors to the houses and the dining room from snow drifts to have breakfast in the morning. Then we went down to the hotel for the night. And now we are going back up to the shelter, according to the forecast, the weather is promised to improve on Saturday. 

P.S. We also celebrated the birthday of our participant at the hotel.

News of the Elbrus region.  Today, for acclimatization, we climbed to the Pastukhov Rocks.  The weather has changed compared to the previous day: wind and snow in some places, fog and low temperature. Upon returning to the National Park Refuge, a severe snowstorm began, which lasted until morning. Tomorrow is a day off according to the plan, we will study the weather forecast and choose a day for climbing the summit.

We went up to the National Park refuge, settled in, descended to the height of 4100, where there was a Refuge of Eleven. We have mastered the skills of climbing in snow. Meanwhile, the group "Stars of boots" successfully climbed the highest point of Papua New Guinea. Wilhelm Peak 4509m. On May 8, almost all the participants stood at the top (one lady decided to save her injured knee).

The weather was perfect. On the descent we swam in the lake. It's so great when you have the opportunity to freshen up right after the mountain! In the evening, the ascent was already celebrated in the lodge.

 News of the Elbrus region. A new group called "Shuttles" has started its program of acclimatization and preparation for Elbrus. Today we went up to the Ai cafe, where we tried tea with cones and chebureks. The way up passed along a path that was covered with snow in some places, in some places even had to make steps in the snow so that it was comfortable to climb. In the afternoon we went to the rental, where we took the necessary equipment for climbing Elbrus. Tomorrow we will go to the refuge, where we will live for a few days.  Guides Berezin & Semenov.

With the first rays of the sun at the top - it becomes a tradition of our groups on Kilimanjaro. Today, the group "How to get to the library" almost in full went to the summit. Unfortunately, one participant got off due to indisposition at 5500 m. The weather did us a favor for the first three rainy days - it was dry and cold, the trail was in perfect condition. We ascended at a good pace and also descended to the Kosovo camp also at a good pace. Now we are already at the Millennium Camp.  Tomorrow there will be a descent to the Umbva gate and the ceremonial part of the program.

Meanwhile, the group "Stars in Boots" moved to the neighboring province in Papuasia. The road was a long jolt. But on arrival we were greeted by the whole village.  We were shown the traditions of choosing grooms and funerals with songs and dances. We live in a very cozy lodge with lots of flowers. We went on an excursion to see how salmon is bred. And for dinner we had delicious fish with vegetables from the local vegetable garden. We met an amazing hostess who was happy to answer numerous questions about farming and local life. In the evening we sat by the fireplace, laughed a lot and loudly, playing "contact". Tomorrow we will go to the base camp of Mount Wilhelm.

Today the group "stars in boots" had its second day of rest. We visited three villages, watched a show of ritual dances and the way of life of different tribes of Papua. Cultivated, bought souvenirs and had a good conversation. Tomorrow we will have a long road to the neighboring province to the foot of Mount Wilhelm.

Valery Myasoedov, the guide of the 7 Summits Club, reports from Tanzania: The fourth day.  Crossing to the Karanga camp and passing the Barranco Wall. The wall looks like a serious obstacle from the outside, but our Tanzanian guides know every pebble on the trail, so climbing the wall did not cause problems. But he created many opportunities for beautiful photos. By the way, in the morning, the main guide Victor introduced us to the entire escort team - guides, kitchen workers, porters, 43 people! There were traditional songs and dances and a lot of emotions. The day turned out just great, the first day without rain, even the poncho was not taken out. We came to Karanga for lunch, there was time to relax before dinner and play Perudo. I do not know a single person who would not be captured by the game, our group is no exception. The mountain is already very close, in the morning, when the clouds are below us, it can be seen in the palm of your hand. Today, the climb to the Kosovo assault camp at 4800 m.

After the Giluwe volcano, the "stars in boots" team began to rest. We need to recover our strength in three days with a second ascent of Mount Wilhelm, the highest point in Papua. And we spend this time usefully, a cultural program has begun. In the morning we admired the birds of paradise. And we spent the rest of the day visiting a small local village. A whole pig was cooked especially for us.  In the traditional way in the ground, overlaid with banana leaves and red-hot stones. This method is called mumu. They also dressed up in festive clothes for us and arranged male and female dances. We were led through the sacred place of the village. Despite the fact that the entire population is Christians, they still keep the skulls of ancient warriors and worship them.

Hello everyone!  The group "Wanderers" of the 7 Summits Club moved to the refuge National Park, at an altitude of 3900m for high-altitude acclimatization on the slopes of Elbrus.  After being placed, we went up to the area  of the Refuge of 11 and conducted classes on the technique of movement and self-retention in the snow.  Then we went down and after a hearty lunch, we got a well-deserved rest and beautiful panoramas of the Caucasian ridge. Tomorrow we will go to the Pastukhov rocks, at 4700m.
