The guide of the 7 Summits Club Andrey Berezin reports from Nepal:

Namaste from Nepal!  Bored? For two days we, the “UFO and He” group, were out of touch. During this time, we have passed quite a large section of the route. So, in order. Yesterday we moved from Lukla to Chutang (3400 meters), settled in relatively comfortable conditions. We had a snack, slept, went to fix the acclimatization higher. The goal was to meet the red panda. Failed. But it doesn't matter. The next night was in the loggia. And in the morning we went towards the Zatrva-La pass (4600 meters). From it we safely descended to the village of Tuli Kark at 4200 meters.  We rest, recover. Tomorrow we go to the Kothe village.

Information from our friends from Vento company: Alexey Lonchinsky called today at 12 o'clock. They are doing well, according to plan. In three days, Yuri and Alexey reached the base camp, acclimatized to a height of more than 6000 - went to the nearest mountain (as far as the connection allows – Furayma). We have completed all the tasks of acclimatization and equipment testing. Today they are resting. Tomorrow, if the weather permits, they go out under the route, set up a camp. The day after tomorrow for the assault. The weather forecast is "not very good", perhaps the ascent will be shifted by a day.

We remind you that the climbers plans to make the first ascent along the Southeastern buttress to the top of Rolwaling Kang (6645 m). Alexey Lonchinsky and Yuri Koshelenko are among the best climbers in the World, repeatedly awarded with various "Golden Ice axes", champions of Russia. Alexey is a leading methodist coach at the 7 Summits Club. He manages all the training mountaineering camps that our company conducts. Yuri Koshelenko also worked as a guide in the 7 Summits Club company, although for a long time.

We spent the night from October 13 to October 14 at the Khvaltish Hotel at an altitude of 1613 meters. It is located on the shore of the Gergebil reservoir. So far, only the first steps have been taken here to improve this promising place. We had dinner and breakfast in glamping dome tents near the hotel. There's nothing wrong with the food here. In the evening we were pleased with dancing by our friends! And in the morning there was exercise, breakfast with coffee and a long journey... Dagestan is bigger than you think. This picturesque, hospitable republic largely consists of objects of interest to tourists. You can spend a month here, but you won't see everything. This is true. But we simply did not consider it possible to ignore the oldest city of the Russian Federation, the millennial Derbent. Of course, the walls erected in the sixth century are impressive. Yes, indeed. We had a wonderful guide who courageously coped with a large group surrounded by hundreds of other tourists. At the end we had a very hearty meat lunch with fragrant local wine. And back to the buses – to the airport…

There we said goodbye to our Dagestani friends. I really want to see them again and visit Dagestan again.

The highest point of the Gunib district is the Mayak (Lighthouse) Mountain with a height of 2,352 meters. Today our team passed the traverse of the massif, visiting the famous Gunib tunnel on the descent. It was punched specifically for the passage of Emperor Alexander II in the 60s of the XIX century.  As a result, we got about 20 kilometers with a height difference of up to 1 kilometer. The weather was great, everyone in the group walked at a different pace, but steadily. We admired the grandiose views of mountainous Dagestan, saw soaring eagles under us. Many thanks to the local guys who accompanied us and showed us the right way! All the participants of this climb were just happy with how they spent that day!

On this day, we were accompanied by beautiful weather.  After high-quality morning exercises (thanks to the guide Evgeny Fedyunin) and breakfast, we went on an excursion to the abandoned village of Gamsutl. A wonderful path led us to the ruins of a once large settlement. For lunch we moved to the modern village of Choh. Then we visited the observation point, from which the artist Aivazovsky painted the famous panorama. And a visit to the Saltinsky Waterfall. Local canyoning was quite a worthy end of the day. Thanks to our Dagestan partners, the organizers of the tour! Thanks to all the participants!

Saturday, October 7th. A message from Nepal: "Today the Nepalese have a day off, thanks to this, we were able to leave Kathmandu for the Rolwaling Valley at the 8th hour without traffic jams. 7.5 hours of traffic on roads of different quality (repairs are underway), and we reached the settlement of Chhyothkhyot at an altitude of 1410 m. We are staying here tonight for the night, then we will have a trek. Very comfortable in temperature (after KTM) place, with beautiful views. We met only one trekking peak expedition in this location."

Alexey Lonchinsky (owner of Piolet D'Or) and Yuri Koshelenko (also owner of Piolet D'Or) today go to the high-altitude zone of the Himalayan Mountains to make a record ascent. The two are planning to make the first ascent to the top of the Rolwaling Kang along the technically complex Southeastern buttress.  At the moment, no one has been on this summit at all. In 2015, a Japanese expedition attempted to climb, but in the end the team ascended to the neighboring peak. The buttress is the most attractive in a technical sense, it is beautiful and logical. Alexey and Yuri received a permit and started trekking in the direction of the base camp on the Drolombao glacier.

This is the second joint ascent of Alexey and Yuri. In 2017, the two made an ascent to Fangi Peak (6538m), for which they were nominated for the Golden Ice Axe of Russia award.

The expedition is supported by the Vento Company.
