After lunch, we have a rest, then an early dinner and, accordingly, an early start. The mood is determined, various options have been worked out, we believe in success!

Tatyana Posokhin, representative of the 7 Summits Club in the USA:

Hello everyone! Day 5 of my Hungry Elbrus. The day of the ascent. The night was sleepless. The start was at 3 am. I feel great, cheerful, in anticipation!

The start of the route was a bit drawn out, we walked slowly because of the previous teams ahead, which basically gave the body time to warm up, so that it could run up later!

 The result of the hungry experiment:

You also need to take into account that I had not trained for a whole month due to illness (and I arrived on the expedition not having fully recovered yet):

- I quickly recovered from the illness: the cough and nasal congestion went away;

- the ascent itself was very easy for me;

- breathed deeply the whole way;

no altitude sickness or its symptoms;

- no headache;

- no fatigue;

- lots of energy and strength;

- no hunger;

- saturation at the very top 96;

- no clouding of consciousness either;

- climbed two peaks at once (if there had been a third peak, I would have run to it too), the journey from the East to the West took 1.5 hours, taking into account a stop for rest and changing;

- even without taking any medications or supplements, dietary supplements, vitamins, my body feels better than ever and there is no muscle pain after the climb.

It turns out that I became the first Russian and the first American woman to climb Elbrus on two peaks at once without food.

 And my main result: I overcame my altitude sickness. Those who know me, I have had enough defeats, both because of my lungs and failed ascents precisely because of altitude sickness. I have never had saturation above 86-90 at altitudes under the best of circumstances. I have done a colossal amount of work on myself, on my willpower, on all the difficulties.

But the result amazed me and brought me to new heights!

Greetings from Iran! On the second day of the program, the group "Perseus and the Perseids" began acclimatization. In the morning, we left our comfortable Espinas Palace and headed to the mountainous area at the foot of Mount Tochal, where we stayed in a hotel called Tochal. We went up on the cable car along the way, admiring the panorama of Tehran and watching dozens of local residents who on a day off, and Friday in Iran is like Sunday in our country, traditionally make leisurely ascents to the top of Tochal. The mountain hotel also pleased us with its coziness and delicious food, and after lunch, having rested a bit, we walked to the top of Mount Shakhneshin, 3850 m. Tomorrow is a new day, new tasks. Valery Myasoedov, the 7 Summits Club Guide, reports from Iran:

 Greetings from Iran! Yes, it has happened! The only group of this season to Damavand arrived in Tehran today. How we waited for this and hoped that the country would open up and welcome us again. At first glance, everything is as before, life is in full swing, the bustle of the capital and traffic jams, the bazaars and shops are open, our favorite local team, our best hotel Espinas Palace...

 Everyone remembers us and was waiting for us. According to tradition, today there was a city tour, a visit to the Tajrish bazaar and the mosque of the same name. At lunch in the Milad Tower, the group was already in full force, some of the participants arrived on a daytime flight. After lunch we stopped at a store with oriental sweets, bought pistachios and other goodies, and upon returning to the hotel we checked our gear. At the welcome we got to know each other better and discussed the program for tomorrow. The day flew by in an instant. Tomorrow we are going up to the mountain hotel for acclimatization.

Hi! Today with the "Very organized group" we went on the final acclimatization climb in the direction of Pastukhov Rocks. We reached about 4630m, 50 meters from the final point we decided to turn around due to the weather. Taking advantage of the opportunity, we worked on our skills of moving in a thunderstorm and high-speed descents in crampons. Without excesses, but there were enough impressions for everyone.

Now we are in the rest phase and preparing for the assault on Elbrus.

Group guide: Georgy Bushuev.
