Hello! This is Lyudmila Korobeshko from the expedition on Carstensz. Now I am at the base camp of the Pyramid Carstensz at 4200. Here I have arrived with one Indonesian friend early yesterday morning, specifically to prepare everything for the arrival of the group. We set up tents, set up a camp. Then we put the public tent, and even made a small cleaning area. Anyway, all is well. Yesterday, however, all day pouring rain, but we did expect this...

So the expedition to  Carstensz seria-2 starts. We arrived at 8 people in Bali. Under the guidance of Lyudmila Korobeshko and Alexander Abramov. And then we met our group-1, which yesterday returned to Bali from Carstensz, under the leadership of Artem Rostovtsev. We are resting and remembering what happened. Group members were not allowed to hike through the jungle, as the military said that in the jungle is unsafe. And so they flew in a helicopter. And rightly so. As somebody said, in the area of Carstensz yesterday there were shot a car with police from machine guns. Tonight we will fly to Timika. In the lair of the Papuans

Lyudmila Korobeshko from Papua: Today Oct 30, I arrived at Timika on the island of Papua New Guinea after a short preparatory phase on Bali.

All day I with local guides bought food (a supplement to previously purchased delicacies in Bali), carefully weighed and packaged equipment. Tomorrow the helicopter promised to take 350 kilos. Alex Abramov insisted that we have brought an oak table and chairs. "There's got to be at the highest level!"

In the evening we visited the migration service. I was photographed on a red background and I have a subscription that I'm on the good will go to the lair of the Papuans. And I agree not to come closer than 5 km to secret American mine and not to ask for help in any case.

I go to bed, tomorrow at 4.45 departure to the airport. I and a cook will fly 2 days earlier, we will make a camp.

Today the day began in Timika. In the morning we had a breakfast at the hotel, then arrived at the airport. We waited for our departure of the helicopter, waited for a long time... then flew. According to the forecast we knew that today is the last day of good weather ... and we decided to climb to the top immediately ...

Not to stand in the night, not get wet in the rain. The result: at 2:20 we reached the summit and descended. And now we celebrate our success. Everyone is feeling great. The Chinese delegation, which is here, came... congratulated us ....

There was no helicopter today, but tomorrow we hope to fly in Timika. Bye! Artem Rostovtsev

Rainy greetings from Papua! We are again in Timika. In short, we flew to Sugapa, and then are unable to overcome obstacles in the form of representatives of the tribe of Moni on the way to the jungle. Some time groups of tourists weren't there, and, perhaps, some time, still will not. We spent the night in a police station  and in the morning were evacuated at the first opportunity. We'll go the other routes planned tomorrow to fly to the base camp under a Pyramid Carstenz by helicopter.

Negotiations, massive entry of Papuans in the police station, talks, again talks...

All you need to navigate to mountain attended. We checked with the immigration service, the first step to getting a residence permit. Then we got under a tropical shower, and has revised our approach to protection from the rain. We bought another waterproof layer. Now in this matter we are quite.

Tomorrow finally we leave this bastion of civilization and go to the Papuan jungle. In the morning we depart for the array, which dominated by Pyramid Carstensz, and will slowly stomping around 5-6 days and we'll be under the mountain.

For the first time in many years, the team of the 7 Summit Club used a helicopter to reach the base camp of the Pyramids of Ñarstensz. Sorry a bit of the Papuans in the jungle, they are so bored without our tourists. Terrorists again lost their feeding, but they are not sorry. The mountain, as usual, did everything to make the climb memorable for a long time: fog, snow, streams of water ... all as  for grown-up!

SUMMIT!

March 17, the night before the ascent I could not sleep. At first it was chill, after midnight the moon came out, illuminating everything around as in a daytime, in the morning it began to rain. But we decide to go on the route.

March 18, 2017 at 4:30  it was a light breakfast and at 5:30 we leave for an assault. We walked calmly. During the day the weather changed rapidly, then the sun, then fog, then rain, then snow. By noon the whole team had successfully climbed to the top of the Carstensz Pyramid (4884 m)!

First thing I called home, to my loved ones! I told my dear wife Olga that we had climbed and started the descent. Thanks to IEC Telecom Kazakhstan, satellite communications connect our family regardless of distances;)

On the descent, we were in a thunderstorm and wet snow. We descended into the inner corners, along which streams flowed. Through wet, we went down to the base camp.

Everything is fine ;)

This morning at 6:00 the main team came  to Timika. We quickly overloaded everything into a helicopter. There was a lot of  cargo, so the helicopter must became as easy as possible. When they took off the back door, I felt somehow uncomfortable. When we loaded into the salon, in the center of it we saw a big hole - also the consequences of relief. For 15 minutes, the pilots warmed up the screws. Finally, we took off. After 20 minutes, not far from the landing site, we got into a very dense fog. The altimeter showed 3800. I realized that there were a number of mounts about 5000. It became completely creepy. We sharply gained altitude to 5000. Then the sharp icing of the salon began. We were forced to return. The next attempt is scheduled for tomorrow.

Lyudmila Korobeshko, expedition guide and company director of the 7 Summits Club: Today, Monday, March 13, the expedition of the 7 Summits Club to Pyramid Carstensz begins. This is the most mysterious and hard-to-reach mountain from the 7 Summits project.

This morning  the main part of the team and most of the expeditionary cargo depart from Geneva. In the plane there will also be a legend of world basejumping and baseclimbing Valery Rozov.

I personally already have halfway to the goal of our trip - the island of Papua New Guinea - specifically, I am in Hong Kong.

And one more participant of our expedition and a part-time star of world mountaineering, a man who made  no oxygen climb on all 14 eight-thousanders - Maksut Zhumayev - is already waiting for us on that island, in the town of Timika, where he arrived this morning.

The next day we all should meet in Timika and go straight to the foot of the Pyramid of Carstensz. We'll see how it goes. Follow our news!

Our Indonesian partners are famous for their trademark technique - inscribed flags on top of the mountain and certificates. Therefore, the awarding   procedure can be regarded as the end of the expedition. Though it may be, we still have to go home. But  to leave heat in South-East Asia for the cold of Russia is not very desirable.

Hello! This is Alexander Abramov from Papua Province, from the 7 Summits Club expedition to the Pyramid of Carstensz. This morning the weather was beautiful, which is very rare in these parts of the World. We were ready to start, but it turned out that the porters did not want to go. And they had a very long meeting, it was all due to our yesterday's meeting with the armed guerrillas.

The porters were afraid to go out, but, nevertheless, at ten o'clock still started to collect things. We have lost time, so we had to go the whole day again. We got to the fourth camp very late, in darkness. This is the last camp before the base camp, tomorrow we will have a sufficiently long march climbing about one kilometer, partly over rocks.  And we must come to the base camp.

Today we have a remarkable event. Today Evgeniy Kravt is 41. He put the bottle of whiskey, very good quality. And on the occasion, our Indonesian cooks and guides made cake, chocolate cake.

Now the rain continues to pour. Everything is as usual, and by the morning rain subsides. We hope that this tradition will continue, and we will be able to start early in the morning.

So far, all are good. Everybody is happy....
