Salaam from Skardu!

There is a team name! We are “Me and my young team”! We say hello from hot Skardu!

It's time to tell us what's going on. So, the second day we spend at the starting point of all mountain expeditions - Skardu at an altitude of about 2500m. Today we have not received the promised permits, and we are looking forward to them tomorrow. As the locals say, Inshallah!

Today is an amazing day! We are celebrating the birthday of the soul of our company — Artem Kolomiets! Artem, we sincerely congratulate you and wish you more travels, your sense of humor and positivity will warm us all the trip!

Another day and there will be no places left in Skardu that we have not visited. In the morning we went to the Kuchara lakes. And in the evening, Cold Desert was waiting for us, the Cold Desert in jeeps, incredible dunes and the most beautiful sunset. We felt like the heroes of the movie Mad Max. After, we made a short trek to secret waterfalls and apricot trees.

And the evening ended with a festive barbecue and a party in honor of our birthday. Separately about security. Pakistanis are very friendly and welcoming people. Always ready to help, welcome foreigners with great joy and an open heart. Today Pakistan opened up to us from a new side. We look forward to continuing!

Our goal is to climb the second highest mountain in the World, the K2 peak (8611 meters), famous for its severity. The climbing expedition consists of 7 climbers, two guides, 12 Nepalese Sherpas and 8 Pakistani high-altitude porters.

The expedition program also includes a trekking trip to the foot of the peak, to the base camp of our expedition (two groups).

The result of the joint work of RD Studio, the 7 Summits Club and the 8000 Club should be a full-length film that will be watched by millions of viewers. On our side is the experience of filming on Everest of the film "The High Altitude Gene", which had a huge audience of millions. It was repeatedly shown on Channel One - Russian main TV Channel. The documentary will show the most interesting moments of the expedition itself, and the host of the film Valdis Pelsh will tell about the history of the mountain itself, about the dramatic moments of the history of climbing it.

We present the participants of the expedition!

The presentation of Lyudmila Korobeshko's book "The Height Gene 2.0: A Woman's View" will also take place as part of the evening. Dear friends, we are happy to share the news from Vitaly Lazo and his team, who are going to Mount Everest as part of the 7 Summits Club and 8000 Club groups!

"Now drones not only fly away from us, but also... float away! Crash again — the FPV copter swam in the river. But Farit, sacrificing himself, caught the fugitive! Now we dry it — not Farit, but a drone — in a bag of rice)) Rice absorbs water well!

As a result, we spent 2 days in Namche Bazaar. We did not sit at home, and went to the neighboring village — Komjung. There we met a really interesting person, his name is Pemba Sherpa. He is 84 old and worked as a porter on the famous 1953 Everest expedition with Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary. It was a great shooting day!
Today we spent the night in Dibuche, and in the morning — a trek to the village of Periche (4370 m)”

The first expedition of the 8000.Club project  starts on April 17th to the fifth highest peak in the World -Makalu. Lyudmila Korobeshko will lead the team.  Mount Makalu (8,485 m) has long been famous for a long and tedious trekking approach to the base camp. However, now all issues are being resolved with the help of a helicopter. Makalu is also a record holder among eight–thousanders in terms of the number of routes climbed and their variants. However, almost all of them have been completed only once. The absolute majority of climbers use the French route of 1955. It's A Classic!  A long detour route leads along the glacier and ends with a very beautiful final part.

Another 8000.Club group will be working on Everest at this time. The team will be led by Viktor Volodin.  They have a special sport program. This year Nepal will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953.  Expedition of the 8000.Club will follow in the footsteps of the legendary Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

You will also be able to follow the news from these expeditions on the website of the 7 Summits Club.

About a month is left before the start of our climbing programs to the summits of the Himalayan eight-thousandthers. The first to start is the traditional expedition of the 7 Summits Club on Mount Everest under the general leadership of Alexander Abramov.  The main group will work according to the classic program of climbing on the highest peak of the World with full service and maximum possible comfort.  And we will also repeat the successful program "Touching Everest" in the past years, with overcoming the legendary Khumbu icefall and climbing to the Camp 2.

This year Nepal will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953.  The expedition of the 7 Summits Club will follow in the footsteps of the legendary Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. It is awarded to climbers who have climbed the highest peak in the World for the first time.  The main theme of the evening will, of course, be the sporting achievements of the leading Russian climbers. Yesterday, the 7 Summits Club welcomed our friends famous explorer Fyodor Konyukhov and his son Oscar Konyukhov. And we have now amazing news! In August, Fyodor goes on Kazbek with our 7 Summits Club and with his friends. You can join, but upon prior request. Vladimir Kotlyar has already applied for the role of a guide in this group and has been previously approved.

We discussed the possible participation of the Russian team under the leadership of Fyodor Konyukhov in the Jules Verne Cup (the fastest prestigious sailing race, you need to go around the World in less than 80 days). We will jointly look for finances and assemble a team.

Fyodor blessed Volodya Kotlyar and Alex Abramov for the fulfillment of the project "14 eight-thousandth". He believes that this project is very important for raising the prestige of Russia. After all, no Russian climber has done this project yet. Sergey Bogomolov is the closest (13 out of 14). Everyone got a tremendous boost of energy. Fyodor Konyukhov is very inspiring!

And also we received an invitation to the exhibition of paintings by Fyodor Konyukhov "Journey of a Lifetime" from February 3 at the Zurab Tsereteli Gallery.

The authorities of the Aconcagua National Park are in doubt as to how they should behave in a pandemic. On the one hand, they cannot afford another missed season. And they need income, and hotels, and guides, and mules need food. However, you also need to show your concern about the possible spread of infection through the base camp. The example of Everest shows that this is not fiction.  The body's defenses weaken at altitude and it is easier for the virus to penetrate it.  It is extremely difficult to separate people, to ensure social distance. No one will seriously do this.

Local guides and tour organizers strongly object to the shortening of the season. In their opinion, this will only lead to more dense accommodation of tourists, which will have the opposite effect. After all, there are willing, given the delayed demand due to the missed season.  There is still a little time to change something. But for now, the season is officially shortened and will begin on January 1, 2022.

We usually complete preparations for Antarctica in the calendar summer. That is, by the beginning of September, all the lists of tourists traveling and flying to Antarctica were always ready. But this year we are just getting out of the covid press.  Will there be a season in Antarctica? There was no affirmative answer to this question for a long time.  And it took longer than usual to form groups.  There was demand, and the demand is deferred. Since last season was completely canceled by the American logistics organizers on the Ice Continent.  Now all issues have been resolved and agreed. There will be a season and we already have groups.  But in other countries, booking is worse than usual.
