Yesterday, March 19, in Moscow on the traditional gala-evening (party) of the "7 Summits Club" there was a significant event. Lyudmila Korobeshko and Alexander Abramov were awarded by Orders of Edelweiss. This award is given by a special committee of the veterans of Russian mountaineering.

A well-deserved reward! Few Russians have done so much to promote mountaineering among the masses.

Lyudmila - the first Russian woman to finish the program "Seven Summits", and the first in the World made it twice. Alexander is also a famous person. He tactfully reminded at the party - he is the third Russian, completed the program "Seven Volcanoes", a program of climbing to the highest volcanoes all over the world. Two times Seven Summits, 6 times Mount Everest summit. And together, they are a family of owners of the 7 Summits Club – the leading climbing company in whole Eastern Europe.

Alex Abramov and Luda Korobeshko came to Elbrus region for work and fun. Tomorrow they will celebrate Women's Day on March 8. Our local office is preparing for a new season that starts from May Days. For two years we use for Mount Elbrus our favorite Refuge – LEAPrus...

Our programs:

Elbrus by classic route, 8 days

Elbrus climb with traverse from south to north, 8 days

In 2013 Italian architectural firm LEAPfactory has constructed a new energy-efficient hotel on the southern glacier of Mount Elbrus, in Russia's Caucasus mountain range. Generally considered the highest peak in Europe, Mount Elbrus has a summit of 5,642 m (18,510 ft). The hotel in question is located 3,912 m (12,834 ft) above sea level, hence its name: LEAPrus 3912.

Depending on your point of view, Mount Elbrus could be considered the highest peak in Euro...LEAPrus 3912 features a 8.6 kw photovoltaic system and a solar thermal system, both comple...The modules boast 46 beds, a living area, restaurant area with kitchen, toilets, reception...The hotel has an expected lifespan of 50 years.

The hotel has a total area of 139 sq m (1,500 sq ft), and comprises four prefabricated modules, which were constructed in Italy before being shipped over to Russia and deposited on the mountainside by helicopter. The modules were then assembled and made operational over a few days in July. They boast 46 beds, a living area, restaurant area with kitchen, toilets, reception, and staff accommodation. The hotel has an expected lifespan of 50 years.

Given the remote location, and the expense and technical difficulty of receiving supplies, it makes good sense to ensure that LEAPrus 3912 is as energy-efficient as possible, and LEAPfactory did indeed install a range of technology to bring this about.

LEAPrus 3912 features a 8.6 kWp photovoltaic system and a solar thermal system, both complemented by a standard gas-burning generator, efficient LED lighting, and an underfloor heating system that's designed for low-temperature usage.

An efficient ventilation system helps mitigate heating requirements, and a sewage plant designed for high-altitude usage has been installed that promises almost 100 percent recycling of human waste. The hotel also sports an integrated system that melts the ample quantities of snow to supply water to sanitation services.

The energy-efficient tech is managed by an energy monitoring system, that in turn is regulated by a computer that can be remotely controlled via satellite.

LEAPrus 3912 was constructed for the North Caucasus Mountain Club, and opened for business last month.

The organizers of the "Piolet d'Or" contest surprise all and delight us. They changed all formats of determination the winners. This year, two experts made a large list of climbing, which they liked. And a big jury had already chosen three winners.

Among them, and our St. Petersburg friends! CONGRATULATIONS!

April 9-12, Chamonix – Courmayeur awaits them for a pleasant trip, without a usual nervous tension. Most likely, French will not change their minds, as for "Mistral".

That's what we wrote last December, congratulating a guide and coach of 7 Summits Club Alexey Lonchinsky to obtain "Russian Golden Piolet": "Congratulations to our tour guide, coach and friend, a wonderful guy and a wonderful athlete Liosha Lonchinsky! Deserved victory! All the others were also good, worthy contenders. But experts still knew things when adjudicated. Now it is up to the French (world) Piolet d'Or! "

Guide 7 Summits Club Vladimir Kotlyar reports from Ecuador:

For 4 days we had to go two peaks: Ilinitsa North (5126m) and Cotopaxi (5897m)! On the first day of spring in 6 a.m. we left for the summit Ilinitsa North, whose height is 5126 meters above sea level. We started from a shelter Nueve Horizontes (4700 m). At nine in the morning we were at the top, climbed up in three hours.

Cotopaxi (5897 m) - this is the highest active volcano on earth. March 3rd we reached the summit of this snow-ice giant, sometimes slightly "smoked". Climbing started from a shelter at an altitude of 4800 meters above sea level in the morning. After half an hour of walking, we had to put on crampons.

But the most vivid impression were at the top, because it was not just the highest point with stunning views of the surrounding space. The top decorated by an unusual giant crater which is smoking little by! This crater is 800 meters in diameter and 300 m deep! It's really impressive, so take my word (and better check yourself).

We came down before lunch, plunged into the car and drove to Baños! We deserve a rest!

Now we proceed to the Galapagos ...

Marina Nagel (Germany) and Gennady Puzankevich (Belarus) climbed up to the Uhuru Peak, the highest peak in Africa, Kilimanjaro massif, on the program of 7 Summits Club. Natalia Lavretzkay also was with them in the expedition, but she did not reach the top. The usual route, but it was not quite normal ascent. The fact is that Gennady did it in slippers on his bare feet. Not for the sake of records, not to impress someone. He always walks barefoot and followed his tradition on Kilimanjaro. Mountain shoes were in a backpack.

Gennady Puzankevich – in general, is an outstanding person, with a unique profession - he taxidermist makes stuffed animals. But the main thing - the whole way of his life on nature and his own style in all...

Belarussian taxidermist Gennady Puzankevich lives in his house in the town of Zhodino, some 50 km (31 miles) east of Minsk, Gennady, one of the most well-known taxidermist in Belarus, has produced some 7000 birds and animals for domestic and international clients during his 40 year-long career. His private collection numbers some 250 birds and animals.

From the news
(1)Today our group climbed to the top of Huayna Potosi (6088 m, it seems).

Leaving the beaches of Titicaca, we quickly got to the base camp of Huayna Potosi . Base camp - it's very cozy hut , around which there is roam herds of llamas and alpacas .

But then there we had a few days before climbing. Easy walks, ice class, the ascent to the upper camp ... We were doing everything for acclimatization, and it went as best as possible . Although of course it was not always easy.

But in the end, today, our whole group was on top of this beautiful mountain, which has absolutely stunning crest.

We can not say that the ascent was simple. But we did it. And as a reward - in the evening in La Paz we celebrated his first victory.

(2)Yesterday the sports part of our team climbed the highest point of Bolivia - Sajama volcano.

After taking a rest in La Paz after climbing Huayna Potosi , our team went to climb on Sajama. Unlike Huayna Potosi, the volcano Sajama is completely wild. Campgrounds , harsh conditions , high altitude , difficult technical climbing ... As a result , only half of the team was able to reach the top of this legendary peak.

And down from the mountains, the next day we plunged into the hot springs. That was real bliss . Swimming in the hot water, we looked at the top of Sahama and did not believe that another day we were standing on her ridge.

Last Thursday, our manager Marina Nemirova went on a trip to Svalbard, particularly in the Russian city of Barentsburg. Today she sent the first message:

Marina Nemirova: Our charter 737 landed on schedule in the archipelago of Svalbard in the Norwegian town of Longyearbyen. Arctic! This could only dream of! And then it happened!
In Longyearbyen, we visited the local museum and a wonderful art gallery, which presents not only the paintings of landscapes of the Arctic, but also ancient maps.
Then we got a special equipment, embarked on snowmobiles and in total darkness covered the distance of 70 km to the Russian city of Barentsburg. The evening ended with a tasting of fresh beer from the local brewery, and before going to bed we saw the northern lights!
