Namaste from Nepal! Today we started our trekking. We came out of Chame and saw the first big mountains. After an hour we reached a beautiful place with coffee and donuts. After the doughnuts, it was even more fun and enjoyable. The beautiful weather and the sun made us happy along the way. At lunch we stopped at another lodge to have a snack and relax. After lunch, we slowly reached the Upper Pisang, settled in the loggia. Then we went to the monastery for a cultural program and acclimatization. Tomorrow we go to Manang, looking forward to the incredible views of the mountains and a great walk.

Super-guide of the 7 Summits Club Alexey Lonchinsky reports from the Elbrus region:

A mountain school - training courses for climbing Mount Everest, Denali and Antarctica has completed its work in the Elbrus region. We were able to go autonomously with all the necessary equipment and provisions for 5 days to the area of Lake Elbrus, get up to a safe bivouac. We conducted classes on the basic principles of safe movement on ice and snow terrain, how to properly use a field kitchen and cook! For the first time, they were able to go up from the lake to the Mir station and then settle in the houses of the National Park shelter. The next day, we made an acclimatization rotation to 4600 (Pastukhov Rocks).

The weather in the region was unstable, the ascent had to be abandoned. The window for a safe ascent will only be in a few days. We went down. Unfortunately, we were met with rain and sleet...

We hope that next year there will be lower temperatures and more snow! Guides Alexey Lonchinsky and Dmitry Semenov.

Good afternoon! It snowed the night before and caused concern, but everything turned out well, and it only dusted the bivouac quite a bit. In the morning, we slowly gathered and moved up. For the first time during our events, we left not on the way up to Garabashi station, but up to the Mir station. This was facilitated by the weather and the mood of the participants!

Today we are housed in the National Park refuge, tomorrow we plan to go up.

How art brings people together.  In the expedition of the 7 Summits Club to Aconcagua, there was an exchange of paintings

Aconcagua. On February 6 of this year, at 14.30 local time, as part of the 7 Summits Club group, Indira Weaver and Jamila Bashirova ascended the highest point of South America, Mount Aconcagua. Cousins, Kazakh by nationality, they come from the small ... read more

On February 6 of this year, at 14.30 local time, as part of the 7 Summits Club group, Indira Weaver and Jamila Bashirova ascended the highest point of South America, Mount Aconcagua. Cousins, Kazakh by nationality, they come from the small village of Sosnovka, in the Semipalatinsk region, East Kazakhstan. The Semipalatinsk test site was located 200 km from Sosnovka, more than 400 nuclear tests took place there from 1949 to 1989.

The famous Kazakh artist Karipbek Kuyukov was born 100km from the landfill, and was born without hands due to radiation from nuclear tests. As a child, he fell in love with art, and learned to draw by holding a brush in his mouth and toes. At the moment, Karipbek is an activist of the anti-nuclear movement, a speaker, an artist, and was even nominated for the Nobel Prize as an activist for peace.

Tells Indira Weaver: Last year, during our first attempt to climb Aconcagua, we met Miguel Doura, an Argentine artist who lives and paints in the base camp. He showed great interest in the culture and traditions of the Kazakh people, and in Kazakhstan in general. Not many representatives of the Kazakh people have visited Aconcagua, and according to our data (from the Internet), only one Kazakh girl, Saphira Kanaeva from Russia, ascended on the summit in 2014.

So the idea arose to connect two countries and two cultures through art and Aconcagua.

After the Canaleta, where everyone left backpacks, Jamila and I took turns carrying my backpack, so there was a picture there. At Karipbek's request, after our successful ascent, the painting was donated to Miguel's private collection.   Miguel was pleasantly touched by such a gift from distant Kazakhstan, and in turn decided to draw a picture especially for Karipbek. Fortunately, Valery Myasoedov still returned to the mountain with the final group of the 7 Summits Club and was able to pick up the painting from Miguel. At the moment, the painting is with him in St. Petersburg, and soon Valera will send it directly to Karipbek in the city of Karaganda.

We need to level up again.  The participants of Everest-23 arrive in Kathmandu only on April 15. And on the 17th, the start of trekking is scheduled, they will reach the Everest base camp only on April 25. That is, Sherpas can level and iron the glacier for another month. Greetings from Alex Abramov and Luda Korobeshko from the USA!

Simultaneously with active preparations for Everest, Makalu and K2, we are also preparing for a large-scale season in Antarctica 2023-2024. This week we met with our partners for Antarctica (ALE). We specially flew to this meeting in Salt Lake City. And we have just incredible news!

A very large and unusual season in Antarctica is planned. In addition to our standard programs "Ascent to the highest peak of Antarctica Vinson" and expeditions to the South Pole "Last Degree", this time we will have two large groups to the highest volcano in Antarctica — Sidley.

The 7 Summits Club is the first and only company in Russia that started 20 years ago and annually organizes ascents in Antarctica on the Vinson Massif as part of the Seven Summits project and to Sidley as part of the Seven Volcanoes project.

Usually, only 8 people per year are allowed to climb Mount Sidley from all over the world.  But thanks to successful negotiations, we will have two big groups in the 2024 season!

Join us!

The first expedition of the 8000.Club project  starts on April 17th to the fifth highest peak in the World -Makalu. Lyudmila Korobeshko will lead the team.  Mount Makalu (8,485 m) has long been famous for a long and tedious trekking approach to the base camp. However, now all issues are being resolved with the help of a helicopter. Makalu is also a record holder among eight–thousanders in terms of the number of routes climbed and their variants. However, almost all of them have been completed only once. The absolute majority of climbers use the French route of 1955. It's A Classic!  A long detour route leads along the glacier and ends with a very beautiful final part.

Another 8000.Club group will be working on Everest at this time. The team will be led by Viktor Volodin.  They have a special sport program. This year Nepal will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953.  Expedition of the 8000.Club will follow in the footsteps of the legendary Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

You will also be able to follow the news from these expeditions on the website of the 7 Summits Club.

And after the final breakfast and the farewell ceremony with the team, we walked 12 kilometers through an incredibly beautiful forest and came to the gates of the national park, where a festive lunch was waiting for us.

And although it was a little sad that it was over, the hot shower was much more pleasing. And in the evening, at a festive dinner, the participants of the ascent were awarded. Everyone received certificates and beautiful medals. And they have already started making plans for future ascents.

News of the mountaineering school in Khibiny.  Today, under the leadership of Alexey Lonchinsky and Ratmir Mukhametzyanov, we successfully climbed on the top of Aikuaivenchorr by the route 2B K.T. (route "Fox")!  The participants passed the main part of the wall at the same time, the leader fixed ropes only on the key section. All this happened under the supervision of our instructors, who monitored safety, guided and encouraged somewhere.

They also worked out important skills of independent decision-making on the route: which scheme to move, where to make stations.

Tonight we will analyze the mistakes made, and tomorrow we will hold a training session on the ice.
